Good morning, all! My dreams were very strange and I remember next to nothng - something about prison sentences and a supermarket, perhaps - this morning. Now that I am mobile, I am pondering the morning's activities, but I do believe my weekend priority is to clean up this apartment, put things back where they belong and music into the proper carton. With all of my personal possessions moved out of Toyland, the place is has cluttered as it was before the 2008 bed bug invasion, and I cannot let it continue to pile up.
I do have to run down to Toyland this morning to look up some Toyland materials belonging to me, and then I will commence with the cleanup.
Tonight, I'm seeing the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players perform THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE and the conducting debut of my friend Joseph Rubin. I will sit with Joseph's parents, who are coming in from Canton, OH for the Big Night. I haven't seen a NYGASP performance in over ten years. When I first got to the City, I saw great productions of RUDDIGORE and IOLANTHE, but around 1987, I caught a New Year's Eve{?} performance of an under-rehearsed, sloppily performed GONDOLIERS that was really second rate. This is my first time back in 23 years. I don't care so much about the performance as Joseph's conducting this time around. I figure the company, which does PIRATES often, will be fine; I want Joseph's debut to be good.
