I had a very, very unpleasant incident on Thursday, followed by some unexpected and very bad news on Friday. I am still reeling from it. Some of this is fall-out from a very poor economy. I am trying to cope.
Many vibes.

Just picked up a huge amount of grass-fed beef that is now happily stored in my freezers. I went in with friends on a cow. Have to decide what to make first: sirloin, T-bones, ox-tails. I left the brisket and was glad I did. Between the two freezers, I had just enough room for what I picked up. I even got some soup bones in the mix.

When I was growing up, we would go in with another family on a cow that the other family raised. That family was more into the ground beef than my mom was, so we always ended up with plenty of steak. It got to the point that I once complained to another someone at church that I was tired of steak.

Ah, those were the days.

I've given up on the skating and gymnastics program because it also included 4 teenage pop stars and their screaming fans.  I'm not the demographic for that kind of program.

I read the notes re: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and was wondering for those who have read the books what is left out?

And what things are different than what was left out of the Swedish version?

(Probably don't read this if you are unfamiliar with the books/movies - don't want to spoil anything for anyone).

.
.
.

I am curious in the US version did they show anything about Erika and Mikael's relationship? I remember they left that out of the Swedish version and that really bothered me. Because in the books something that happens with them at the end of the first book is what starts everything that happens in the 2nd book. So to me that was a big thing to be left out.

It's in the US version and is part of what DR DRUXY described as anti-climactic.  It's part if the reason I liked this version.  I think in some ways it's closer to the book

I think I also liked seeing the extended ending in the Hollywood movie if only because it drove home to me further why the book in Sweden is called something that translates into "Men Who Hate Women" and it sets up why she won't speak to him in the second part of the tale.

I'm back from "Lyrics and Lyricists." It was really wonderful.  Howard McGillin, Laura Osnes, Christine Andreas and BK's good friend Jason Graae performed the songs of Walter Donaldson and Gus Kahn.  Some of the songs are: Ain't We Got Fun, How Ya Gonna Keep Em Down on the Farm, Pretty Baby, My Buddy, It Had to Be You, Toot, Toot Tootsie, Carolina in the Morning, My Blue Heaven, Dream a Little Dream of Me, San Francisco, Makin' Whoopee, Love Me or Leave Me, I'll See You in My Dreams.

Christine was just great singing "It Had to Be You" and "Love me or Leave Me." Loved Howard's "My Buddy."  Laura did a nice job on "Dream a Little Dream."  And what can I say about Jason?  He's got a great voice, of course ("Yes, Sir, That's My Baby; How Ya Gonna Keep Em...) but he's so funny and creative while he's performing!

After the show I spoke briefly with Christine and Howard (both very gracious).  And I introduced myself to Jason , who told me I looked familiar.  I told him I was an HHW member and how much I enjoyed his "outside the box" video.  He gave the credit to Bruce and said it was a lot of fun.

We took a couple of photos (which I'd like to post , but which I may need help with tomorrow).

I asked Jason if he had a message for BK--here it is:

"he owes me money" and  "he left his underwear at my house"

And...

Now I'm doing laundry.

And packing.

I've already got two boxes of clothes boxed and taped up, and ready to be labeled.

Now onto my luggage, and one box of papers and "stuff".
