Took a break and watched the first of the Maigret movies in box three - a treat, as most of them are, with a fantastic performance by Maria Schneider (Last Tango in Paris).  This was one of the last of the series.

Watched "Downton Abbey" on pbs.org tonight. I love the fact that I don't have to get cable for this one series.

Good Evening!

Well...  The new production of Gounod's "Faust" at The Metropolitan Opera is... well... new. And long.

Alagna was good, but I could tell he was pacing himself for singing Cavaradossi tomorrow night.

And, as I sort of joked and feared, since it was directed by Des McAnuff, some of the staging reminded me of "The Who's Tommy".

I'm glad I only paid $20 for the ticket. If I had paid $270 for that orchestra seat, I probably would have gone ahead and enjoyed a good nap. -Like a couple people around were throughout the evening. ::)

Today, we had our first read-through for TAO's new production of "A Bucket of Blood," based on the Roger Corman movie.  The whole thing took about an hour and a half and hopefully, it won't end up being much longer than that.  The original movie is only an hour and six minutes long, but these stage actors have to have "dramatic pauses" all over the place. :P

Very "different" Christmas this year.  A bit of "stress" at home, but a wonderful flight back (including an amazing, very effective neck-and-shoulder massage at an ExpresSpa in Atlanta's terminal A) on a 757 in 1st class...so much space that you could fully extend your legs and not touch the back of the seat in front of you.  THAT's luxury.   

And the service was amazing.
