I find it baffling that they nominated Woody Allen for Midnight in Paris.  But I guess that's typical of my union.  I would have nominated Soderbergh for Contagion, and I know there were other movies I liked much, much better than the Allen.  Fincher was predictable, although I feel it's his least interesting movie in a career that has several uninteresting movies.  I'm looking forward to The Artist and will probably see all five nominated films again on the DGA screen next week.

I'm surprised that DRAGON TATTOO was nominated and not THE HELP.

We had a terrible time getting on the internet during our travels, even in Palm Springs.  Today's drive home was stressful as Craig called this morning to say Sherlock could not walk on his front paw & was in pain.  Since Craig has begun working part time at the local elementary school as an aid he left Sherlock at the vet.  Of course by the time the vet could examine him he was no longer limping & showing no pain.  Once home he began limping a little.  We shall see how he is tomorrow.  The good news nothing is broken.

Jennifer:  The ending of the US in terms of Lisbeth seeing what she sees is exactly the same as the ending in the extended SWEDISH version - the extended SWEDISH version adds about thirty minutes of footage that wasn't in the SWEDISH version that played in theaters and that thirty minutes is all important.  For me, the CHANGES that the US makes to the ending in other ways, said changes NOT being from the book at all, are not good and completely unnecessary.  And Mr. Fincher and his screenwriter completely blow the emotional wallop of the end of the Vanger part of the story - in the Swedish version that scene is very touching.

Wish I had known about the extended Swedish version.  It sounds like I shouldn't bother with the US movie.

I'm exhausted & have emails to respond to & some unpacking to do.  I had better find my brain power by tomorrow morning as I have a book to discuss with my group, one that I recommended only it has been too long since I read it.
