Some British filmgoers have been complaining and demanding their money back after seeing The Artist and finding out it is a silent film.

Young Frankenstein better be good tonight.  I've been breathing in diesel exhaust from the trucks unloading all day.   It only happens when they park 2 semis in the alley and the weather is just right....or just wrong.  I had a headache and left the office.  When I came back I figured it out  (i'm right on the fire escape and the trucks park right below me).  It's only happened twice, but man does it make me feel sick.   I opened the windows even though it's freezing out. That helped.

Now I shall go home and find some dinner.  Then off to the theater.  I have never seen Young Frankenstein, the musical, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Hoping the Madonna-Elton John "feud" over the Golden Globes Best Song award is just a phony publicity stunt, since it just seems so silly, but the public battle is featured in our thumbs-down spot in this year's Golden Globes "Hollywood Gown" rundown,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9tZwsJKa6M

("Hollywood Gown" - the song parodies the legendary Manfred Mann recording of Harriet Schock's "Hollywood Town")

- also featuring a glimpse (in a good way, of course) of one of the most exciting people I had the privilege of meeting in 2011 (and helping a little on her and dear friend Harriet Schock's  new show's reading at the Actors Studio in June) the amazing Diane Ladd, who is as effervescent and delightful in person as she always seems when she's herself on camera

Very clever (or should that by cleaver).

Yes DR TCB - Sea of Glass is my choice, too.....but $50 is a LOT of money for a pig in a poke.

Exactly.  And that is the sale price.

Portland drivers are insane.  I walked Zach to the snow route bus stop, and he was busy making a snowman, bent over so he wasn't looking, but he was up on the sidewalk, and some IDIOT came careening through the intersection on a left turn, going about 40 MPH, lost control of his car and came skidding right up over the sidewalk and smashed into a metal fence about 2 inches (I kid you not) from Zach.  Some of you know the story of me watching Gabe get hit by an IDIOT when were picnicking in a park years ago, so this was a little too much deja vu for my taste.

Scary!!  Your heart must still be racing. Fearing such an accident I drove the boys to school, even in high school, instead of letting them wait in the dark at the bus stop.  We didn't even have sidewalks as a buffer.

TOD:

Liz Callaway - Anywhere I Wander
Broadway Christmas
Hollywood Christmas
As Thousands Cheer
The Burt Bacharach Album

BONUS - I'd also sneak in a special CD that was issued by Border's of selections from BK's albums.  It was only $1.99 or something and it's one of my favorites!

Back from my knitting class at Lambikin's in Hamilton, OH.  I'm taking a 3-session beginner class, not because I'm a beginner, but because I needed the refresher and thought I had some bad habits I needed to break.  Turns out I'm doing fine and will end the 3 weeks with a beautiful scarf made of self-striping yarn.  On Feb. 7, I'll start the 3-week class to make a reader's shawl.

:)  I hope there will be a photo of the scarf.

Time Life sent me a huge illustrated book on the TITANIC a few years ago that I had never ordered.

You're welcome.  That was the birthday present that you never bothered to thank me for giving you.

I finessed, then wrote a few new pages, then rewrote the Channing section (not really rewriting, just some deletions and rephrasing a couple of sentences - that's all it really took), then I ate, then picked up one tiny package, then came home, wrote ten more pages, read the rewrites to muse Margaret who loved them and said it made everything better, then wrote another page or two.  I'm just taking a little break, then I'll continue writing until six.

Well, it's only about 4" long so far, so it'll be a while!

DR (and E&T) Jason mentioned last week that he had auditioned for TITANIC.    Is this an actual revival, or is it a concert version for the 100th Anniversary (not Ginny and Richard's)

Oh, gosh. Barrymore's, one of my favorite restaurants in New York. Now it's just a parking lot. It's hard to believe the owner makes more money with an empty lot than a thriving restaurant. But, that's why I'm not a businessman.

TPunk (Antonia), Jason and Rodzinski (Tom) are there also with me and Ginny and Richard and and Jose and Larry (well hidden in the back next to Jason).
Sounds like the edible equivalent of "Follies." Ghosts of meals past wafting through the parking lot.

Come on, FJL, I know you want to do it.
