I'm listening to Whoop-De-Doo. By the time I saw the show it was pretty tired but I really like the CD. It's one of those cases where the score plays better than the show.

I didn't realize that it ran long enough for it to get tired. I like the "Newt" song even more now than ever.

I am listening to Marcos Valle.  I just ordered the new box set of his 1964-1974 period which evidently has tons of bonus tracks.

Digging down through piles of review material, including a bunch of music biographies from Eagle Rock.  Currently watching a rather good piece on Queen.

In somewhat surprising news, the brouhaha over All Quiet on the Western Front is actually quite subdued.  Probably because the biggest complainer is busy arguing with BK on the TKAM thread.  :)

Is there an actual physical media release of THURBER CARNIVAL, or is it just MP3?

The Newt song is from When Pigs Fly. Whoop-De-Doo was before Pigs. I Love You Elizabeth Taylor and the Nancy Reagan skit  (among others) come from Whoop.

I saw Pigs just after it opened and LOVED it. It played at the now gone Douglas Fairbanks Theatre on Theatre Row. Whoop-De-Doo played at the Actor's Playhouse on 7th Avenue in the Village.

The Thurber CD is both an mp3 download and a burned on demand product, meaning it's a burned CD, with a label and a booklet but burned, nonetheless, not pressed.

There is a song about Don't Ask, Don't Tell in Whoop-De-Doo that no longer applies.

Finally upploaded all my singers cds back to my Itunes.

Next wil be the composer/lyrcists tribute and/or compilaton recordings. After that will be my instrumental and jazz recordings.

I do not plan to upload all my cast albums. I will chose the ones I can listen to with repeated listening. Others just the songs I like.

Still a chore though.

Hey, Bruce and the sweet Hainsies! I am sorry to be so very E&T. This film is truly wrestling me to the ground! We had a screening at BMI in NY on Monday for friends of the director and producers and have so many comments and critiques it made our heads spin. Everyone seemed to have their own agenda (many knew Doc Pomus personally) and then there is the exec producer, who just wants it shorter and other producer who wants it longer, and the director and I in the middle just trying to tell the story. We're trying to get it into 2 festivals so I'm rushing to get the film done, not even knowing yet if we're accepted. I'm looking forward to having my life back in a few months, and making trips to NY for more than a day. (Makes me feel like a sailor on shore leave.) At least I had a brief bit of socializing with Ben and Ant in Jan.!

Thanks for all your birthday wishes; you guys are the best!!  XOX!!

I am on Twitter (I was on for a while in 2009 but dropped it). I'm on basically because of Radio Wales and the producer of Beverley's new show. I know a few of you are on Twitter as well. If you feel inclined to follow me I am

@DangerPenfold

Those of you who know my history may realize this refers to DangerMouse and Penfold. My avatar is a picture of the suave and debonair DangerMouse himself.

You can also follow Beverley Humphreys. She is

@worldofmusicBBC

It's the title of her new Sunday evening show which replaces Showtime. It's a long story. Some of you may get this information in an e-mail blast later this weekend as well. Please excuse the duplication.

Doug, how does Cleopatra look?  I'm eagerly awaiting the Region 1 release.

It looks and sounds superb with remarkable detail, well up to the quality of the Blu-rays of BEN-HUR and THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.  I found it a bit of an annoyance that the Entr'acte has been placed at the end of the first disc instead of the beginning of the second (I contacted Nick Redman who has drawn that to the attention of Fox so maybe they can change it for the US version).

DR Elmore, if the ghosts are interrupting your sleep, try leaving the TV on for them and they might leave you alone (unless they start bugging you to get HBO...)
