PENNY LOAFERS

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of pennies and loafers, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently trying to figure out exactly how to wear penny loafers.

I've been sleeping a bit later each day which is fine. I still get to the office early but I'm not up at 4:45am.

Velour pullovers.  I liked how warm and comfy they were.

Posting on my train ride along the river.  I can't read my commuting book because my Kindle ran out of juice.

That never happened with those paper books.  Anyone remember them?

Good Morning.  When I had penny loafers (well- I still have penny loafers but without the pennies) I used to use pennies from the year I was born.  There aren't many pennies from that year in circulation anymore!

I haven't seen a penny from my birth year for a long time.   And now pennies don't have the Lincoln Memorial on the back....or at least a 2011 penny I saw last week didn't -  it had a shield on it like from the Warner Bros.

Nice hats for gentlemen.  And suits for dress up occasions - no matter what anyone tells you, there is NO SUCH THING as Dress Jeans.

And a cowboy hat is not proper attire for a wedding, funeral, or graduation.

Good morning, all! Another day fraught with ugliness has begun. I've spent the past 45 minutes drafting an email response to what has been a series of bitchery for the past month, and I'm ready to kick some butt. Someone needs to unbunch their panties. My email begins: I would like to speak to Dr Jekyll today; Miss Hyde's emails of the past weeks have been ones I neither wish to read again nor respond to.

So, last night I had a peculiar dream about two lesbian friends and an AIDS protest ay the old Different Light Book Shop. The friends seemd to be a composite of ladies I've known in Manhattan and two friends in my hometown, one of who died far too young.

Today, a bit of work on DEAREST ENEMY, then some tax work.

I went thru a penny loafer period in college and for a few years after.  I never personally put pennies in them but female friends would grab my feet and insert them for me.  I had no idea that penny loafers involved actual pennies.

When I wear my penny loafers (I have a pair in brown and a pair in black), I always get at least one comment on the fact that I have pennies in my penny loafers. I, in a Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory way, wouldn't think of having penny loafers without putting pennies in them.

I miss the days when most people looked smart and routinely wore hats, suits and ties, even when just shopping. I especially dislike the ubiquitious jeans and T-shirt look.

Had oats for breafast and went for a coffee and croissant at Pret A Manger - they do the best croissants in town.

I love Pret a Manger. They have a branch two blocks from the office. I get coffee there. I much prefer it over the ubiquitous Starbucks.

Thanks, DR Dan(theMan)! On another task, I have to go into the McGlinnventory tomorrow to finish up things for the auction. This means that I will do laundry today. Oy!

Since I - no matter what I wear - look like I'm returning to, or coming from, my coal barge, I'm very happy with the jeans and T-shirt look.

BK, not to raise your ire, but you're incorrect about DOWNTON ABBEY.  Both seasons are out on Blu-ray here (I caused a ruckus a few days ago by deigning to comment about the second season, you may recall), and both are indeed the UK unedited versions.  PBS is indeed slightly editing the episodes for broadcast (which I also mentioned in a post--the cuts are minimal and odd, to say the least), but the BDs have the shows in original broadcast versions.

Downton Abbey Season 2 Blu-ray  (You'll note it clearly states original UK versions, and having watched them all, I can state definitively they're unedited.)

The thing that really bothered me about the US broadcast versions was the inept cut offs of music cues from the bizarre editing choices.
