Well, last night (Saturday), "A Bucket of Blood" had another good show!  The audience wasn't as big as it was on opening night (there were only about 20 or so), but they still enjoyed it.  For our two performances so far, we're doing well. :D

I got another good night's sleep with very odd dreams.  I've just been lazy since getting up.

DR Jane we can take out dvds for three days. Or a week if they are documentaries or about real people like MONEYBALL. Although if nobody has reserved it we can renew it online.

You read my mind.  I was going to ask.  I plan to call my library and ask what the rules are & the fines if I'm late, which is a good possibility.

DR Laura, I'm so sorry.  I'll come drum (piano?) some sense into them.  :)

The local natural foods emporium New Seasons has fritters that are to die for.

NOW you tell me ;)  If I could go to New Seasons I would get their incredibly delicious almond cake.

Sad to read that Judi Dench has macular degeneration.

I heard that.

From DR JMK:
Quote
DVDs can be washed with liquid soap.  Just dry them by rubbing from the center out (not around in a circle).

Thanks for the drying instructions.  I have been doing it in a circle.

It's not the end of the world (or the DVD  ;D) if you dry in a circle, as long as you're careful.  DVD's tend to handle scratches better if they're at a 90 degree angle from the "circle," if that makes sense.

Are you saying drying it the wrong way scratches it?  I use a soft mircrofiber cloth to dry them with.

When some people use their credit cards at The Red Box, a hold is created on their account.  Some people.

They said we were charged $1.20 if we pick it up or not.  I'll tell Keith to watch out for an unusual hold amount-thanks.

My current guesses on the upcoming Kritzerland release involve these composers:

Michel Legrand
Manos Hadjidakis

Though I must say if it's one of those fine gentlemen, I'm a bit confused.

It is neither of those gentlemen.

How about Nino Rota.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  We are back from Lima, where my coffee cake was a big hit.  We have lots left over, because there were only 10 people there today, one of whom didn't stay for refreshments and another who's on a strict diet.  I froze a couple of batches and left out only a few pieces for Richard and me to eat in the next couple of days.

That was my first guess--already nixed.

Speaking of nixed, we were playing Taboo last night with Betsy's parents, and someone offered the clues, "slimy and disgusting," to which I responded "President Nixon," but alas that was not the correct word.  :)

Jane, no, you will most likely NOT scratch your DVDs with a soft microfiber cloth, but the reason you should wipe from the inside out in a straight line is in case you DO scratch it (inadvertently).

I have literally scrubbed DVDs and BDs and CDs quite briskly and have never encountered a problem.  I also wash LPs with great regularity.

I thought maybe John Addison, though the only film I can think of is not that much of a favorite and the most famous music from it is not even by Addison.

Nancy Walker had a great quote in an early Mary Tyler Moore episode.  She's Rhoda's mother and is visiting Mary, who is "antiquing" a chest by hitting it with a chain.  "It's nice you have a hobby that makes you happy."   ;D

I have found that washing LPs with hydrogen peroxide works quite well and removes a lot of the static.

Sunday.

Last week on SOUTHLAND they had a scene on a rooftop in LA.  A block or so away was a building with EASTERN on all four sides of it....and a clock.  The building looked to be from the 1930's or so.....but there was something on the very top that I could not identify?

Is this an LA landmark?  And what is setting on top of it?  Is it an airplane or something?

This rings no bells with me.

Ah, I guess I should read ALL the posts before commenting.

I don't recall exactly what fritters are--they're like turnovers, yes?
