I've been using eBay since 1998.  I always thought the seller set the shipping cost.  When did that change?

Sellers can set shipping, within certain parameters.  Those parameters become MUCH more restrictive when eBay revamped everything a few years ago (it was at the point that sellers could no longer leave negative feedback, one of the reasons I stopped selling on eBay).  One way or the other, eBay rules expressly forbid a seller "revising" shipping costs after an auction closes.  What is posted in the auction is what must be adhered to.

I'm up after another good night's sleep.  Best of all, Grant's at noon, therefore Grant is currently my favorite President.

I've started watching the 1970's PBS series "Upstairs/Downstairs"  While it's no "Downton Abbey", it's quite good.  And there are many season.  But will it hold me until Fall?  LOL

Well, I am officially in Rapture seance as my Amazon Marketplace seller has informed me my purchase will ship tomorrow.  Once it arrives, I will reveal all.

I see that the first artificially produced burger made from stem cells is on the way later this year. I might wait for others to try them out before I sample one. Still, if it saves having to kill animals for meat I'm all in favour.

:o  I had to look this up.  I'm not sure it would turn me into a "meat" eater again.

I used to sell a lot of stuff on Ebay, but not recently...mainly because of the shipping rate restrictions.

It's even worse now with the raise in USPS rates.

I received an e-mail from Playbill regarding the "Season of Savings." I assume that is Broadwayspeak for nobody is coming to town for shows, so we are ready to paper the theaters.

No DR TCB....the modify button is separate from the little pencil and pad in the body of your post....  If you use the pencil and pad your screen looks very different when you edit......you stay on the posting page.

You are indeed correct, Jack, I guess I never noticed that before either.

How many Presidents have been mentioned in show tune lyrics?

Mr. Adams,
But Mr. Adams...

"We'd like to thank you, Herbert Hoover..."

LBJ took the IRT...

I am assuming there must be a few mentioned in ASSASSINS.

A fun profile of Delores Hart, once an Elvis co-star and now a nun.

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-et-classic-hollywood-20120220,0,6443380.story

I was crushed when Delores Hart left show business for the convent.  Of course, at the time, all I ever dreamed of was having a career in show biz.  I couldn't understand how someone who had managed to get into films, could turn their back on it, even in the name of God.

Good morning, DR's.  I'm having an eBay issue regarding payment.  I recently won an auction for something that I'm very excited about.  When I actually pay for it, I'll share it with you.  Anyway... this has to do with shipping costs.  There was a shipping cost calculated in the total of the auction, which is fine.  However, the seller is saying it's going to cost more for shipping because they'd like to send it FedEx, which I have no problem with.  I asked him to go in and change the shipping criteria on the item because I can't change the shipping cost when using PayPal when eBay seems to have calculated it themselves, or he used the shipping calculator, or whatever.

Well, this seller is not very bright, they seem very defensive and they don't seems to want to work on this from their end.  We messaged back and forth yesterday and got no where.  I asked if he would send me his email address and I'd be happy to send the amount directly to him, that didn't happen.  Then I asked if he would just send me an invoice, but that hasn't happened either.

This item is a find and I'm very excited (not to mention a HUGE steal!)  The seller has a 100% feedback rating which leads me to believe this hasn't happened to them before.  My first thought is to go ahead and send the payment with the amount that eBay says is correct and deal with the $20 extra dollars later.  I'd hate to lose the item because of the seller not cooperating.  Never once did I say I wouldn't pay what they asked for.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.  :)

Could you just send two payments thru Paypal.  one for the item with the correct shipping costs; and the second one as just a send money transaction to his account?

Watching the remake of "Hairspray" this afternoon. I loved the original, but I forgot how good a few of the songs for the movie were staged.
