THE BOOK AND I
« on: February 25, 2012, 12:12:11 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of both book and I, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently doing a production of The Cow and I.

That's a great cover, BK!  And the CDs around you are of your actual CDs! :D

I think he did a great job and I love the color part of it.  Originally we were going to just do black and white, but this has so much more oomph!

The CD covers he chose are his choices, ones he loves.  The only one I had him swap out was Hey Love - I thought it would be funny to do the Dolly cover, since it's a Hirschfeld.

What's the CD sort of hidden behind the Guy Haines CD?

Love the book cover, bk.

Started to look for a "Nina" or 2, just out of habit.

Really like the title.

Will the book release be around mid-March?

Can't wait to read it.

I think I'm coming down with something. A bad sore throat caused me to keep waking up in the night.

I love the cover too!

Sorry to hear that you are coming down with something, DR Doug R.  The oaks are blooming around here and its keeping my nose stuffy.  I sound like I have a cold but I don't.  I hope that clears up when I go north.

Going back--to answer your question DR Jane.  I think they will feed me.  I sort of got a kick out of what the lady who called said about the trip.  I asked if they would pick me up to take me the airport (no, I have to make my own arrangements) but once I'm in NY I'm under  "their"  care and I will be escorted everywhere.

Don't they know I already carry the most deadly weapon known to man?  If I hit someone side the head with my purse I could kill them!  :)

I also thought it somewhat funny since I've already been to NY 3 times on my own.  I remember I even impressed DR Elmore by doing that.

Good morning, all! I got out of bed at 6:30, thought, what the hell am I doing, and went back to bed until 8:30. I plan to stay here and work on the score for ROBERTA by Mr Jerome Kern most of the day. I may go out for a walk later in the day. Options are nice.

Good cover, BK!

DR Danise, you've got my phone numbers, so if you have a moment free, call me.

Here is another short piece about HK. I'm surprised there is not more about it, even on Playbill.com.

Howard Kissel

Also, another long-time theatre man has died, though he may not be known to millions.

Ted Mann, Founder of Circle in the Square

Circle in the Square began as a downtown, off-Broadway space. They moved uptown to Broadway and built a new space in the building that houses what is now called the Gershwin but was built as the Uris Theatre (where I saw the original production of Sweeney Todd).

JohnG, re:  your post last night about the book titles.  There's *another* book about Jesus and mushrooms that I read during my world religions/occult phase in my 20s:  The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross.  It's quite good as I recall.

Pery Ribeiro also died two days ago.  He was the first person to chart with Girl from Ipanema in Brasil, and later was part of Sergio's group Bossa Rio (FJL, Pery was the male voice on that tune I was trying to decipher a few weeks ago).

What will JR's Dream-o-Matic make of this?:  I awoke this morning from some sort of crazy dream where the name "Bettina Gregory" was being repeated over and over.  I came down and Googled her--former ABC correspondent, evidently also an actress.  Why, Lord, why?  ;)
