It occurred to me late last night that yesterday would have been my parents' 70th Anniversary.

Does the climactic scene of the Hayworth I WANT TO LIVE feature the Rita Hayworth classic THE HEAT IS ON?

I remember asking my mother why they hadn't gotten married on Leap Day, to which she responded in her typically perturbed manner, "Because it wasn't Leap Year!"  ;)  The "you idiot" part was not stated, but understood.

It's actually a medley of that with ZIP, which is redone as ZAP.  ;)

Leap Day greetings!  This is the first day this week that I haven't had to go to the post office to mail something first thing in the morning.  I'm enjoying a slow start with lots of coffee.

GoldDerby is including "Peter" among its possible Tony nominees for best musical. That's why I asked. I had heard it was a play:

That's an odd site. They list Hugh Jackman's one man show and Patti and Mandy's show as possible nominees but both productions said they were not going to be competing in the Tony Awards, they were strictly concert performances.

Well, my phone and the number I've had for 32 years are now a part of Time Warmer's system. The service man was a nice gentleman named Pedro, who plays trumpet. I haven't managed to get the voice mail working yet, but I'll let things settle in fot a couple of hours before I start throwing tantrums.

So, back to work.

I'm awake and at school.... Wait, I'm at school but certainly not awake.  Late nights and early mornings and I don't seem to get along anymore.

My worst grade in my entire college career was a C+ I received for a class called (wait for it) The Creative Process, which was at the ungodly hour of 7:00 in the morning.  Since I was regularly gigging (i.e., utilizing creativity), I kept oversleeping.  I was also writing a flute sonata at the time, which I showed my teacher, and his quote was, "You need to stop composing music and come to The Creative Process".  Hmmmm. . . .

It is snowing what I call "Utah snow" now--big, half dollar sized flakes that float down.

Not only is today Leap Day, it's also Free Work Day.

Yes, it's the one day every four years that we County employees work "for free"...our checks never reflect that extra day's work.

We watched HUGO last night.

Although I was very taken by the performances and the fantastic production values of the film, I could never really get emotionally involved with the story.

It was certainly interesting, but like most of Scorsese's films, it was also about 20 minutes too long,

Does anybody on this board know an actor who might be good as or might like to do my one-person play on Maurice Chevalier?

Finally, after years of trying, I think I've "cleared" the song rights for this show.  At least, the copyright holders are willing to work with a production, and I feel comfortable enough with the arrangement to proceed.

I'll probably make the book portion available via Amazon within the next 2-3 weeks, so please keep your eyes open for that Frenchman in the straw hat.

Thanks.
