It seems the libraries are getting fewer eBooks.  I read the publisher's don't want to sell them to libraries.

BLAME CANADA!

AND THERE IS THIS

Quote
Penguin pulled its books from library distributor Overdrive because it distributed Penguin’s ebooks to Amazon’s Kindle Lending Library — which had no contract with Penguin allowing them to do so.  But that meant that most libraries in the country couldn’t get ebooks of Penguin titles. As a School Library Journal report notes, Penguin’s move proved temporary, but it had a “chilling effect” on libraries doing business with the company.

Meanwhile, of the remaining Big Six publishers, Hachette, Simon & Schuster, and Macmillan, simply don’t sell ebooks to libraries.

The fuss centers on the publisher's desire to limit the numer of readings of an Ebook sold to a library.

der Brucer

The Harry Potter books are finally available as e-books from libraries through OverDrive.  Although there isn't a limit on the number of check-outs (readings) for these titles, there is a limit on how long they're available once purchased.  They actually have a five-year license...unlimited use, but five years from time of purchase, they're dead unless more "copies" are bought.

I came home to face a crisis needing an emergency phone call and I think everything has worked itself out well for now. I had a great time with Joshie today. We got all the fixes into the vocal score and it looks great. By 4:30, though, my mind was fried, and I had several emails and phone calls about this "crisis" today, needing my attntion when I go home.

then I got a surprise phone call from Kyle Guglielmo, who was so wonderful as Curly in the North Carolina School of the Arts production of OKLAHOMA! this last year. He wants advice on operetta roles, and I'm looking for another good snger for my recording roster. that's not a euphemism!

Jane, you would not have liked my dinner tonight. Grilled asparagus with hazelnut oil and crushed toasted hazelnuts crowned with an over-easy egg.

Considering it works like a regular book I don't understand the problem.  Reduce the number of books they will sell then, those who prefer not to wait in a long queue & can afford to purchase will.  Those who can't will still have access to books.

DR George do you have an opinion of their reasoning on this?  I've checked out books that appear to be 50 years old. ;)

Medical Update (and stuff)!

I just wanted to announce that:

I survived my back surgery on April 3
I left St. Joseph's Hospital on April 9
I entered the University Place Care Center on April 9; and I then left that facility (today) on April 12, 2012
I will continue my recovery from my own home.
