We got the wonderful storm from California, but we've had no rain yet-- at least in the part of the city where I live.  A lot of wind-- but no rain.

We have a TORCON of 8 tonight.  In other words, Western Iowa has an 80% chance of a tornado.  I do have a ticket to the symphony tonight and it's right during the time the predict a tornado is most likely.   If it's stormy, I'll probably stay home. If not, I'll go

I, on the other hand, am up.  The sun is shining.  I guess rainy season is over.

Yesterday DR RonP wrote about my strange neck injury:
Quote
Am having difficulty picturing this.  Were you somehow holding that something you were throwing away in your mouth?  And that's why you reached with your neck?

That's sort of like a form of whiplash, I'm reckoning.

Imagine you are sitting at a computer desk and the garbage is under the desk.

I sort of thought that the garbage was in a certain place but it was further back. And instead of bending down and hitting my head on the keyboard i sort of lowered my neck. But since the garbage was not where i thought i ended up lowering my neck without actually moving my head.

If that makes any more sense.  It's just slightly aggravated today. But it should be fine.  The reason i was slightly concerned is that i used to have bad neck problems. I even once had to wear a brace for a couple months.

I'm glad you are better today.  I also had a garbage can incident yesterday.  I clipped my ankle at just the wrong spot.  It is still bothering but at least it doesn't feel like I broke anything. ::)

While I usually enjoy watching BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE on occasion, I agree with BK that there's something that holds back the film.  Maybe one zany character too many?

I never read the play--I need to dig it up.  I wonder if it's doable today?

Still on page 2? This is dreadful!

And on that sour note I am heading home.

I noticed that Bell, Book and Candle was just done at the Long Wharf - maybe there are reviews?  It just closed two weeks ago.

Mom was finally released from the hospital on Thursday and is now in a strangely decreed rehab center.  She would much rather be home but grudgingly admits she needs to do some therapy.

I'll do some surfing and see if I can find some reviews.

Just picked more than 10 pounds of loquats off the tree and didn't make a dent in the supply. Am making a compote with dried cherries, cranberries and prunes. Should be great on vanilla ice cream.

I had planned on making loquat wine with all of them, but the recipe called for a 4-gallon pot, which I don't have.

Two episodes of "Big Love" left and this season continues to be a downer. Not just dramatic, but depressingly so.

First link I happened upon was the Long Wharf's site which starts off describing the play:

Gillian Holroyd, a lively free spirit..."

Well, there's one point where the movie parts company with the play.  I don't think Kim Novak was playing a lively free spirit.

Loquats?
They're a fruit. They're what sweet-and-sour sauce are made from.

I read the play a long time go after seeing the film. I think the film's an improvement.

There are street fairs and other madness all over Manhattan today: the No 7 bus took a detour over to Maidson Avenue at 42nd Street and went up Madison to 57th Street before getting back to its usual route. It's nice to be home.
