We watched My Sister Eileen last night.

It's the 1955 musical version of the stories. It stars Betty Garret, Janet Leigh and Jack Lemmon. It's OK but it's not remotely Jule Styne's best work (IMHO). There are some great dance sequences with Bob Fosse and Tommy Krall but the movie is just OK

Might be worth a trip to the library.....Shayne started as an actor and was Ricardo Montalban's understudy in JAMAICA and went on for him several times opposite Lena Horne....and Sunshine is an artist and advertising man who came up the the WHAT BECOMES A LEGEND MOST campaign for Blackglama.  Very interesting to read.

Or else do what I did when I found a green heron fishing in mine. I got bird netting and covered the pond. I used cement blocks (left over from building the block fence) to ring the pond and let the netting catch on the rough edges. Make it tight so the bird doesn't stand on it and sag down to the water.

Oh -- and sit outside with the hose all day and squirt at the heron until it gives up and leaves.

Thanks for the advice Laura. I have to take the fish tomorrow though. My sister and her husband have prepared plenty of netting over the pond.

DR der Brucer: Thank you for the excellent suggestion of putting the giant stingray in my sister's pond to keep the heron away. Unfortunately I don't think it will fit in. The heron paid a return visit and polished off the remaining lone goldfish - I'm beginning to think that the fish I take her tomorrow are simply going to be more heron food - but apparently she is taking precautions (something about a shotgun).

Maybe her pond is too shallow.  Our fish go down to the bottom of our pond to avoid the heron.  Right now it has tons of frogs to feed on, and yes this vegetarian wishes our Blue Heron would do a better job of feasting on them.  They are extremely LOUD.

Um, Doug... I wouldn't put any fish in that pond. Not until after it sees that the buffet is out of food and goes elsewhere.

Good morning.

I just got my Masters independent study topic proposal done and sent in to my adviser.

In the words of Dr Suess: This may not seem very important, I know. But it is, so I'm bothering telling you so.

I love the dancing in that and the personalities, but the music is lame [IMHO, too].

Congratulations on that. I have to revise mine slightly and resubmit.

Craig is making us a puffed apple pancake. The intention is that is taste like the ones at The Original House of Pancakes. I began the day with half a cup of hot chocolate. Obviously this isn't going to be a healthy food day-lol.

I, too, took the Sunday off from church and am spending at least the morning part with the DP and the "mother-in-law" before I'm off to Annie tech (12:00-10:00) at noon.  I can post from the pit.
