DR JRand61, you've been in my thoughts the past hour. i'm listening to the great Dorothy Provine and her Roaring 20s recordings. Just the best!

I ain't no native - I was born here!

?  ?  ?

LOL....that's what she replied to Tony Curtis in THE GREAT RACE when he asked her if she was a native of Burracho?

I don't remember her in THE GREAT RACE!

You don't remember Lily O'Lay?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnbPbObY1l4

Thank you very much for the clip. :)

The pie fight was the best part.....interesting that every time Dorothy dragged her boa over Natalie....it was a closeup of Natalie and Dorothy's double.

I was wondering if it was a double for the close-ups.

Jennifer, the DVDs of Downton Abbey are uncut.  The BROADCASTS are cut.

The episodes here run 1 hour. But i noticed that the episodes on the dvd run a bit longer. Do you think there is a big difference? I've watched the first two on the dvd. But will probably watch some of the others from what i recorded.

Although this dvd says original UK version. ANd i have no idea what they have been showing here.

PBS tends to cut nudity, if there is any, and other things they find offenssive or off-putting in their "adaptations" of the British programs.  The amount of USA cuts depends on whether it comes from Boston or another PBS station.

I'm sort of confused because it says original UK version on the dvd. But there is all kinds of PBS/Masterpiece theatre stuff on the dvd.

And I didn't record it from PBS. There is a station here called Vision tv that replayed seasons 1 and 2. So i don't even know if they are showing the PBS version.

I ended up not starting it right away. I still have 2 more loads of laundry. But i have the dishwasher going.

I've discussed this previously, spoiling many things in the process.   ;D

PBS slightly edited the original broadcast versions--nothing major, just a clip here and there.  It's mostly noticeable in the abrupt cuts in the music cues.  The DVDs present the original unedited versions.

The thing is i'm not watching it on PBS. So i don't even know if they are using the PBS version. I guess they probably are.

Although right now i'm watching the dvd. But i'm not sure if i want to watch all of season 1 before returning it. Since there is a lot of stuff on tv tonight that i want to watch.

We watched the DVD's as the quality on PBS is lousy here.

I didn't record it when it was on PBS. BEcause i had other conflicts on Sunday night. But when i saw they were playing both seasons on another channel i started recording. But then i realized i missed episode 1.

I don't know for sure that that is show is for me. I like it. But it's not really the kind of show i would usually watch. I'll keep watching and see. I am up to episode 2.

And i've done like 6 loads of laundry. My humidifer leaked because the line that shows how full it is is not working. So i had to use a ton of towels to clean up. And then i had to wash all those towels.

Plus i decided to wash all my comforters (i have a bunch on my bed). Although i probably should have waited till i am not sick anymore. Although i am definitely feeling better.

Now i am eagerly waiting for the finale of TAR. I"m not sure who i want to win.  I think the most deserving is blonde Rachel and hubby. Although I like Rachel and Brendan (I know most people hate them) and would like them to win. I am so-so on the Border Patrol guys. I don't think they are particularly nice. But they have come first a lot of times. So they would be semi-deserving. The team that sort of bus me is the dating couple (forget their names is hers Vanessa?) They are not really too good. Almost always come in last or near the end. I think if they won it would be shocking.

I got that I was only making a reference between tv quality & DVD quality.

I liked the show well enough in the beginning but it wasn't until the 2nd season I really loved it.

DR Jane, my tv quality is very good. So that's not an issue.

I think the season 2 finale is on this week for me.

Sorry I meant station quality, not tv.  Living where we do we can't get PBS which is the only station I know that airs the English shows.

Just watched the first episode of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy." I like these John le Carre stories, but I have never quite fallen in love with them. Maybe by the second or third episode.

Still, Alec Guinness and Ian Bannen are pleasures to watch.

I had a great time at Texas Frightmare Weekend in Dallas.

Sold many more books than at any other autograph event I've ever attended.  In fact, I sold out copies of my memoir.

Heading for home tomorrow morning, a 3 hour drive.

Our 45th high school reunion is coming up and I have sent a few messages via email to find info for classmates.  Keith has done some sleuthing and found more than I did with my quick search.  I just sent a message to the grandson of Moe of the Three Stooges.

Sunday evening greetings!  I went to church in Lima today for the first time since Easter Sunday.  When we got home, I took a 30-minute nap and then drove to Cincinnati for dinner and some Vera Bradley-ing with my friends.  Hope I can stay awake to watch MAD MEN.  Have to find a recap of last week's episode, which I missed because Mom was sleeping in our hotel room and I didn't want to disturb her.

Just found Brent Barrett's song from last week's show on youtube:

He's introduced by Angelica Page (Geraldine's daughter).
