It was a book I had acquired when I was working on my (aborted) Masters' thesis about the automatic writing by the wives of William Butler Yeats and Aleister Crowley.  It was a very rare volume of Crowley writings and the few copies I've been able to find online are all for hundreds of dollars.

Ouch....oh yes I know that book.....yes.....

While I was conducting auditions last night - the house down the street caught on fire and burned.....but I think it was just a coincidence.

How was your audition DR GEORGE?

Congrats to HERRINGBONE!!!!

I listened to a CD of Martin Denny "Exotica" last night.  Possibly a compilation, I don't know that much Denny and hadn't played this one before, and it was amusing how so many of the selections began with...uh, the gourd?  You know, the scraper thingy.

DR Jrand61, please excuse the ignorance -- or forgetfulness, whichever it may be this morning -- but what's the show, and where?

I am a huge history buff and enjoy reading about just about any era.  I remember reading Barbara Tuchman's A Distant Mirror many years ago when I was staying with some hippified folks in San Francisco, and one of them picked up the book and skimmed through it and remarked, "I just don't get what this is about!"  :)

Ahhhh! That's a great book. I love her "Guns of August."

TOD:  I have wide-ranging taste in history.  Besides a great deal of Hollywood history, I have books on the Old West, A huge selection on The War of The Roses (particularly Richard III), a section in the library devoted to pirates and piracy, Several shelves on Jack the Ripper as well as Victoriana in general and British colonization (particularly the Raj). Boudicca (or Bodeacia), Hastings and 1066, Vikings, Roman Britain, the Celtic world and Arthurian myth and history, Regency England, English crime and highwaymen. Ancient Greek and Roman history, The American Civil War, Early American pioneers and exploration (Boone, Sam Houston, Simon Girty, that sort of thing).

Greetings from Toyland! I put together the masters of the vocal score for Rodgers & Hammerstein and found one last correction that got by me. Joshie will kill me, and I admit it's my error.

I am listening to John McGlinn's recording of BRIGADOON. I think this and SHOW BOAT, along with the Kern Treasury, the Rodgers & Hart, and Thomas Hampson's Cole Porter album are his best commercial work.

Druxy, I have a question for you:  do you think there's a market for a film editor to put together book trailers for self-published authors?

I am exploring the same market.

Oh my.  I knew there was probably more McGlinn than I've been aware of.  I treasure that SHOW BOAT.  Must get the BRIGADOON.

And the Broadway Showstoppers, if you don't have it, and the rest Elmore mentioned.

I think Showstoppers is my favorite, if only for Rebecca Luker leading the cast in "All the Things You Are."

It was also the album that introduced me to "Some Girl Is on My Mind," so that made it stand out for me.

Gotta love my hometown! The following is from a news report:

"A Louisville man is accused of trying to force a woman to eat cocaine and then chasing her down the street in his underwear."

I want to know he were wearing his underwear or if he tried to force her to wear his underwear after eating the cocaine.

Tuesday morning afternoon greetings!  We are definitely in the slow lane today.  I slept past 9am and Richard past 10.  Hmm, must be vacation...

Anyway, I'm going down to the hotel's business center to print a couple of knitting patterns and then we'll head to the UWS.

I am back from Toyland, after a stop at the Post office to mail a package I forgot on yesterday's trip.  I've got more EILEEN work to attend to before I meet DR Ginny and Richard, and DR FJL a little later.

I don't mind the Blythe Danner commercial.  I have always said that I would watch Ms Danner read the phone book onstage, so this is an improvement.  She is hardly the first actress to do these kinds of commercials.  I think Sally Field was the first one that I remember.

I have MY cast....and it's a pretty good one.....and most of the conflicts are within the first two weeks, so I can live with most of them.

We will see....of course three of them have to miss the read thru tomorrow night....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Good news about the casting, Jack!  Not so good news about the read-through, though. :-\

If I get cast in "Titus" (the auditions went pretty well last night and I'm going back to the call-backs tonight), I might have a conflict with the read-through.  I think that it's the same day as the last day of performances of "Good Night Moon."
