Woken up at four in the morning by DC Daisy making revolting noises in vomiting up hairballs again. So I had to change all the bedding, after which I was wide awake of course so I watched "Last Year in Marienbad" again to see if I could figure it out. When it finished I felt as if I had been sleeping anyway because the whole film is like a dream.

I read page 8 of the posts last night before reading today's notes. When BK mentioned going to the salon I wasn't getting what he meant. To me a salon is like a beauty salon.  I wasn't even thinking of the other meaning. But it all made sense when i read the notes. :)

Did anybody watch the new reality show The Great Escape last night? I didn't finish watching it yet. But how completely bizarre. They have teams and they have to escape from Alcatraz?!?  I'll have to finish watching the episode to really understand. But i had no idea that this is what the show was going to be about.

I was in a panic this morning because I thought I'd lost my phone. I was using it in the coffee shop but when I got back home it was missing from my pocket. Using another phone, it was obviously ringing out but there was no answer. I went back to the coffee shop but it wasn't there and no one had handed it in. I'd already looked for it in the car but I used my other phone inside the car and rang the number and sure enough, heard it ringing. It must have fallen out of my pocket and somehow got lodged under the passenger seat.

Interesting that I forgot Godfather.

That's okay, I love the film but I'll let my DeNiro list stand.

Monday morning greetings!  Today I have to pick up some prescriptions for my Mother and deliver them to her, work out at the Y, and shop for tonight's dinner with DN Lauren.

I made a slide show of photos from the Youth Theatre Workshop using a couple of songs they play during the show.  I uploaded it to YouTube and linked it to the theatre page so the kids could see it.

One of the songs was Madonna's "Vogue" - which I bought and paid for on a cd many years ago, so I was using my CD file.

WMG (Warners Music Group) flagged my video and will not allow the link.

So, I guess I won't be PAYING for any more WMG music that I want - I will find it "elsewhere."

TOD 2: OK, so I forgot Godfather II for DeNiro and Marathon Man for Hoffman. Thanks for refreshing my feeble memory.

Not terribly insightful interview with Jack Jones. Still, his approach to developing his new cabaret show is very much in keeping with BK's notes today:

After waiting over 20 minutes for a No 7 bus at 23rd Street and Sixth, I  decided genug ist genug and took the No 1 subway. The asses who run the MTA have lots of 'splainin' to  the Manhattn taxpayers who have to put up with their crap.

The books are shipped to Dublin - I hope - and I am home and on to other jobs.

Between the doctor's office and the pharmacy, I'm experiencing a great deal of caregiver frustration today...

I finished my errands without the rain.

Checks have been deposited to the Credit Union, a DVD has been returned and a package has been mailed to Middlesbrough in northeast England.

We had to go to the Credit Union anyway (two very generous friends sent us checks for our Wedding) and the Library was on the way back from the CU and the Post Office was on the way from the Library.

So, I'm back at work productive as ever.

So on a day with yet more job rejection, getting yet another donation request from my school and wondering where I fit in to this:

"Who are our alumni?  The two major contenders to be the next President of the United States; six of the nine U.S. Supreme Court Justices; leaders of law firms and businesses around the world; more deans and law professors than from any other law school; venture fund managers and investment bankers; thoughtful advisers to financial institutions; innovative lawyers for low-income individuals; inspiring authors and public intellectuals.  The great treasure of the School is its people, students, faculty, staff and alumni."

Hmmm, maybe "inspiring author" - yeah, that's the ticket.  I'll send just a little something in.  :)

Does writing on HHW count as being a public intellectual?

Since it has been a couple of years, and we have some newcomers to the site, perhaps someone should post the recipe for Wacky Noodles.  I have never made it myself, so I am no help.

Sorry about the job frustration, FJL. I know how difficult that can be.

THE ENEMY BELOW is, arguably, the best submarine movie ever made.

And, that includes DAS BOOT.

Yeah.  I'm glad I didn't hang out with Elena Kagan in law school.   I can imagine the phone call from my mom now.  Mrs. Kagan says her daughter just got appointed to the U.S.  Supreme Court, what can I tell her you're up to these days?

RE: AS GOOD AS IT GETS

The one performance in the film that is always overlooked is Shirley Knight.

I thought she was terrific as Helen Hunt's mother.
