When the morning show choir event ended at 12:45, we went on the bus to a banquet center in northern Kentucky for a buffet lunch that left a lot to be desired and then we visited the World Peace Bell.  The bus then took us to Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati and we were turned loose for 2 hours of free time.  The people who expected to sit there and be entertained were disappointed, but Richard and I walked to the convention center outside and back on the skywalks and had a great time.  At the convention center, I shopped in the official WCG store and we happened across Middletown's mayor volunteering on behalf of the bank where he works (a big sponsor of the event):

Comatose :)

I guess I didn't really mean comatose.  But the man is 86 years old, and has had numerous health problems.  I know he missed receiving an award from the Friars' Club last month because he was rushed to the hospital.

I guess I expected him to be taking it easy, and not directing a Broadway bound musical.

As we were walking through the Hilton Netherland Plaza, we heard a men's a capella group singing an impromptu concert in the lobby.  We finished our day with a stroll around Fountain Square and some sorbet at Graeter's, where we talked to 3 members of a gospel choir from Germany.  Richard and I were the last ones back on the bus, with 5 minutes to spare.

Some days the only recourse is to get drunk and go to bed. I am tempted.

Someone just posted this on another site from 1989, a Sally Struthers fitness video, which is really cute, but note how much she mugs for the camera when she gets her pulse taken and really adorable how, for a video about the benefits of walking, she seems to take every opportunity possible to sit her butt down on a bench and shmooze for a  while:

Oh, my! :o Especially the comments about David Balboa. ::)

From reading the cast recording group on Facebook, I'm convinced that people really have no clue of what is good and what is bad.  I think there should be a screening process to earn your copy of the new re-mastered Follies  cuz I feel that some will go to idiots that won't appreciate the hard work and then will create a fuss on online boards, etc.

I have to agree with DR Elmore about Into the Woods.  But I guess each composer needs at least one popular show to pay the bills, even if it is mediocre.

Back -- from Criterion shopping, Sonic eating (my first), Frappuccino drinking, and driving through some of my favorite Hudson Valley countryside.

Very full.  Which didn't prevent me from perking up when DR Ginny said "Graeter's".

Actually, I've only had a couple of things from there, both of them years ago so I don't know what they have now.  I remember some very nice chocolate chip ice cream, and a cheese danish type of roll, don't know what those were called, but they were delicious.

Printing, printing, printing.  That has been my day.  We have had over seven hundred orders so far - amazing.  The poor helper might have to hire a helper to get this one shipped.  And the day is young, which is more than I can say.

I mailed my check/order yesterday afternoon. You should get it by tomorrow or Saturday or Monday at the latest. I hope there will be copies left by tomorrow, Saturday or Monday.

Whether there are or aren't, I have one set aside for you.  I don't think it will be sold out by then anyway.  I knew we'd have a great first day, but it's slowed down - still we've never sold anything near this on the site itself - close to nine hundred copies now.

FJL, you ordered directly via paypal, that's why you had to type it in.  You usually wait and order through the site itself.

That's what I did, too, and I'm sure it's there, but...just don't want to miss it!   :)   This is really very exciting, all in all.

Morning all!  I as very tired last night.  One of the meds I was taking said it could make you drowsy well, it sure did.

Think I figured out what caused it--the shake called Glucerna.  I thought it would be good for me because of the diabetes but when I read up on it last night, it is know to cause hives, horrible gas, stomach pains, diarrhea and swellings.  I guess I was lucky I got away with what I did.  Needless to say, I will NOT be drinking it any more!

I suppose it wasn't stated in large print.  :(  At least you know the cause of your reaction.

What was the benefit you were supposed to get out of it?
I had decided that I was going to lose weight but I wanted to do it the right way.  These shakes are for diabetics and has "carb steady" protein in it.  I though if I ate my breakfast bar, had one of those shakes for lunch with a piece of fruit and then a smaller dinner it would help (along with the walking I'm doing) to get my weight and my sugar under control.  Well, I only had one shake and boom, it blew up in my face. :)  Or should I say it blew my face up.

According to imdb.com, filming has begun on "Lucky Stiff" with Mary Jo Catlett and Jayne Houdeyshell in smaller parts.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2404593/

I think that LUCKY STIFF was a better idea for a musical; than it is a musical.

All of the actors that I know who ave done the show has had a terrific time doing the show.  I don't often get that same response from audience members (no offense, John).
Who knows what the movie will be like. Flaherty and Ahrens have supposedly written a half-dozen new songs for it.

Well....many.....well....some of you may remember that my friend of more than 30 years - Vickie - was originally cast in the lead in THE CURIOUS SAVAGE.  She left the second week of rehearsals for health reasons.

Tonight is opening night!!!

I received an email from my dear friend this morning telling me that she learned that she does indeed have ....  cancer.  She is going back to the doctor today to learn what her course of treatment will be.

She asked me NOT to mention it to anyone in the cast or at the theater - and to sell her two opening night season tickets.

I told her I would certainly follow her wishes BUT that I would NOT sell her two seats.  I will give the curtain speech and look at that seat, and imagine that she is there.

So thoughts and prayers and vibes are requested for a really nice person who has had and continues to have a very POSITIVE influence on the lives of many people.

~~~VIBES OF ALL KINDS FOR DR JRAND'S DF VICKIE!!~~~
Amen and Amen!
