thanks, KevinH.
Wish I could have gone to see "Singin' in the Rain" on the big screen this week. I saw the first four-fifths of it on the big screen, but the revival house (back in the late 1970s) noticed something weird. The company that shipped out the film mixed up the last reel and sent out the ending of "An American in Paris" instead. So, somewhere around the Broadway Melody number, Gene ended up dancing with Leslie Caron around the water fountain.
We knew that going into the theater, and yet about 150 or so of us stayed. I think the theater showed it for free.
I recall that print being beautiful, clean and in focus, perhaps not as alive with color as a Vincente Minnelli movie, but certainly not the critical claptrap that was quoted earlier.
