I feel as if I've just been punched in the stomach. Just learned that one of the interns for the board that I serve on was one of the victims at the movie theater shooting last night.

So sorry to hear this, DR John G.

Continued (apparently for the rest of our natural lives) moving and carting VIBES for DR Elmore.

Well, God love our DR FJL! He just called me  to volunteer to come to Toyland this afternoon and help me out. He and Skip are two of the best.

:)

I hope Skip is already feeling better.

LOL DR ChasSmith.

Good evening all!  I am horrified by what happened today in Colorado.  My deepest condolences to all who have any connection to those hurt or killed.

Rainy, rainy morning here in Conshocken.

I think it's nice that Dunkin Donuts is hiring hearing-challenged individuals.  True, my clearly stated order for a large black coffee and two chocolate cake donuts resulted in a coffee with cream and sugar and two chocolate frosted donuts, but that is besides the point, correct?

The move took about an hour and 15 minutes. the crew was great, boxing and taping like mad. They ended up with 32 large cartons and it was over.

Our DR FJL was a wonderful help this afternoon and I was grateful for his company and his aid. It was nice to get some catchup time with him. Fred, thank you so much!

I've been home around 45 minutes and I am ready for bed. Tomorrow I shall do little except pack and seal the 18 cartons sitting here going to the office, Sunday I am doing nothing, and on Tuesday we move the new office in.

And I am off to bed.

Jane, I don't think I explained myself very well yesterday.  It was not a matter of being assertive with my doctor.  My doctor was in surgery yesterday afternoon, he doesn't work on Friday, and he only works evey sixth or eighth Saturday.  There are six other doctors and two PAs at the clinic.  If I call when my doctor is not in, the call automatically goes to the triage nurse who is instructed to tell anyone that calls that they need to be seen before anything can be done about their medication.

This bit of information from the shooting in Colorado bothers me: what fool takes a 3-month old baby to a midnight movie?

Maybe one with a baby that can sleep through anything.;)

I only read the headline on that & don't know the full story.

If the baby doesn't sleep well how else can a new parent stay awake for a midnight showing.

I was thinking exactly the same thing.

I was also rather startled when I read the headline, but then I'm always startled to see babies in movies, especially loud movies.

Today, I'm off to get the DP's cousin who is coming in for a few days from Lancaster, PA.  We are very excited.  She, of course, is in on the surprise party on Sunday.  Should be a great weekend.  Probably one without much sleep!!!

Have fun!

Thanks for the notes, all. Jessica Ghawi had moved to Denver about a year ago after living here. Odd thing, according to the news reports, is that she had survived a shooting only a few weeks ago.

I read some of her story earlier today. :(

I had the same thought. Yet an ignorant mother who needs some air conditioning or just a change of scenery  might. I had a friend who did likewise, but that was 30 years ago, when 20-year-olds had all the answers. Apparently they still do.

There were apparently a  lot of kids there, but why would any theatre management allow a 3-month old baby into a movie theatre? I doubt it qulifies as a Child so they're most likely not making money on a seat, they know if the kid starts crying it will disturb everyone else, so WTF?

Whatever happened to the "crying rooms" that they had in all the theaters when I was kid?

?  ?  I've never seen a "crying room".  I've hear about them in churches.

First thing I had to learn whn I moved to the East  Coast was that a "regular" coffee meant with cream and sugar.

That was a shock because, to me, "regular" meant NOT DECAF.  Now I know what they mean by it, but I refuse to use the term, preferring to describe precisely what I want.

And stating BLACK should be enough whatever "regular" means.

Went to my doctor for a follow up today.  She said I'll be sore and tired for about 4-6 weeks, but that I'll be fine.   I tried to work, but only lasted a couple hours and had to come home.   About ready to fall asleep right now.

"Only" 4-6 weeks.  Your ribs not be as bad as I thought, which of course pleases me.

I hate cream and sugar in my coffee.  I would be very unhappy to get that by mistake

That was my reaction.

I hate coffee even with tons of cream & sugar, unless it has enough to call it ice cream.

George, do you know if Costco takes requests for new food selections? They clearly buy in very large volume, which gives them clout with their suppliers, and they seem quite customer-oriented.

I don't know if they take requests.  You could check out their website www.costco.com and look around.  You might have to go to their customer service desk and ask there.  I've never heard of anyone submitting requests.

I've never been told that they do, only that they don't always know what will come in.

There's an article today on THE NEW YORK TIMES website about the noise level in many restaurants, bars, and gyms (!) being "potentially dangerous." I never thought about the implications to one's health, only that  if I must shout to talk to my companion, it is just too loud!

Interesting.

I'm glad the idiot only yelled at you instead of running you over.

Who was it that recently purchased EVERYTHING WAS POSSIBLE?  I hope you got a good price on your copy.  Playbillstore.com has the medium softcover copy on sale for $13.95.

I ordered the paperback for $16.97 ($12.98 + $3.99 shipping).  Playbillstore.com would charge $7.95 for shipping.  But thanks for the info. :)

I meant on Monday to be assertive to speak to your doctor vs having to make an appointment.
