I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, John G. Indeed, ALL of the victims.

There's a movie coming out this fall, GANGSTER SQUAD, about Mickey Cohen, played by Sean Penn.

I saw the trailer on imdb a couple of months ago, and there is a scene in which a bunch of goons are behind a movie screen and start firing machine guns through the screen into the audience.

I see that that trailer has now been taken down.

I wonder if the scene itself will be cut from the movie.

I've never partaken of Costco food in the store.  They do have good chicken salad that you can take home.

Back from various and sundried errands and whatnot, eating a bacon cheeseburger and fries, picking up no packages and an important envelope, doing more banking, paying more bills and I think I'm done until I start writing the contextual commentary, which I like to do in the evening.

The Mac Mail program was going berserk today, so Apple Care had me do some weird restart to the computer and that seems to have fixed the damn thing.

Our local news just had a woman on for an interview that was a survivor of Columbine, but now lives in Seattle.  She said something that is so true.  She said that we have always gone to movie theaters because were so safe.  I added the word "movie" because I guess lincoln wasn't to safe in a theater.

Icalled my friend Sharry and said that hearing the  news about Colorado must have brought back memories of her time performing in OUR AMERICAN COUSIN.

Yesterday was the first hot day in my 'hood. My apartment stays comfortable until we reach 80 degrees outside, then it get insufferable. Thankfully, it has a small window AC unit. Noisy, but it does cool things down.

I was looking forward to a veggie pizza -- mushrooms, olives, onions, green pepper. They didn't have it. So I got a margherita pizza.

Yeah...that's the drawback.  You only have three choices for Costco pizza.

I've been pestering Craig to get his booster tetanus for 3 months now.  I might have to go with him to get it before he moves.

Today I was crossing the street in Santa Monica, which is usually fairly pedestrian-friendly, when I heard someone yelling. I turned to look and saw a young man in a pick-up truck yelling at me, "Lady, get across the street already!" I wasn't walking particularly slowly. But his actions were rather counter-productive, as my turning to look slowed my pace, as I mumbled, "You idiot!" The irony is that I had waited to let several cars pass before stepping into the street. Had I known that The Idiot was turning, I probably would have waited, but as he didn't use his turn signal, I thought he was going straight. If such a small thing as a "slow" pedestrian upsets him, he must be upset most of the time! I see much worse "infractions" daily!

DR Laura I never tire of your photos, I do however forget to check your link.  Thank you for sharing it again.  My favorite photo is of the bird.  I should know but can't be sure.  What is it?

Went to my doctor for a follow up today.  She said I'll be sore and tired for about 4-6 weeks, but that I'll be fine.   I tried to work, but only lasted a couple hours and had to come home.   About ready to fall asleep right now.

Glad to hear you got checked out and received good news. Vibes for speedy healing.

George, do you know if Costco takes requests for new food selections? They clearly buy in very large volume, which gives them clout with their suppliers, and they seem quite customer-oriented.

I have been watching video of the 2nd preview of the original Broadway production of Merrily We Roll Along. I saw the the 4the preview. I then compared it with video of the show after it officially opened. Interesting to see the changes. Although it has been about 30 years since I saw it, there are still moments that I remember that weren't in the 2nd preview or in the version that opened.

I don't know if they take requests.  You could check out their website www.costco.com and look around.  You might have to go to their customer service desk and ask there.  I've never heard of anyone submitting requests.

There's an article today on THE NEW YORK TIMES website about the noise level in many restaurants, bars, and gyms (!) being "potentially dangerous." I never thought about the implications to one's health, only that  if I must shout to talk to my companion, it is just too loud!

I don't have a Costco membership--I just don't buy enough to make it worthwhile--but I do occasionally go there with friends. Virtually all my friends are members. I was just curious.

Who was it that recently purchased EVERYTHING WAS POSSIBLE?  I hope you got a good price on your copy.  Playbillstore.com has the medium softcover copy on sale for $13.95.
