Richard and I worked out at the Y and then went to Olive Garden for dinner - my sister's treat.  She sent me a couple of gift cards as "thanks for looking after Mom."

That is very nice of your sister.

Yes, it is, DR Jane.  She sent one for Olive Garden and one for Bob Evans, which we'll use sometime when we want to go out to breakfast.  The cards came last week, the day after my frustrating shopping day with Mom.  Nancy's timing couldn't have been better.

Sausage Gravy and Biscuits, with Hash Browns!!

Closest Bob Evans to here is probably still someplace in PA.  I always go there at least once when I'm in Cincinnati.

No sausage gravy for me, DR ChasSmith!  I got sick from it on the last day of our honeymoon almost 32 years ago and haven't eaten it since.

I am sort of shocked that nobody around here had this game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHsQpTbQ9Uo

I'll just sit quietly here and wait for a certain orchestrators response to this.....

There is no need to wait for an autopsy: all tests have successfully proven that Michael Barnum is indeed a 12 year-old girl.
I had that game as well. I also remember Bats In Your Belfry, Hi Ho Cherry O, Gin Rummy, Mystery Tomb game and later the role playing games--D&D, Champions, Gamma World, Star Trek and so on and so on....

And thank you all for the vibes. Nothing is settled yet and I'm borderline apoplectic. Just trying to stay calm and say prayers.

Continued vibes!!!

Excellent timing, and sent prior to your difficult day.

What a fun day! The Monarch Scientist and I spent the day tagging monarchs up north. Then we drove through a haboob coming home. Will catch up in a bit.

On our way to Costco we stopped at Best Buy.  As usual we received excellent customer service.  I looked at the Barnes and Noble e-reader.  I don't care for the way the pages turn and think I wouldn't get used to it.  I asked Keith to compare it to the Nook and he had the same issue, not that the page turner on the Nook is great like on Keith's iPad.

I then looked at the Nook tablet.  On the whole, except that I prefer the size of the e-reader, I prefer the tablet.  Still I wasn't overwhelmed.

The salesman then suggested I look at the Samsung tablet and I must agree I liked it.

Had I not inherited the Nook from Keith I would likely just have gotten an e-reader which has the BIG advantage of a long battery life for long flights & travel.  The disadvantage is I have now gotten used to having an internet connection.

I came home to find news regarding the new Kindle Paperwhite e-reader & the new Kindle Fire HD.

I think I shall wait & research more before making a decision.

Well, I'm off.  I need to get gas at Costco and then I'll go home and see if all the Mack Sennett, Mabel Normand, etc., silent shorts on TCM recorded.

Until later. :)

Rehearsal was really fun, and then some of us went to eat - I had a very healthy salad with a teeny bit of oil and a lot of vinegar, so not more than two or three hundred calories tops.

And...

I had been wanting to try out "Top Chef" Richard Blais' new restaurant, The Spence, and since it's just a mile from my hotel, I went ahead and biked over...

I had tweeted @RichardBlais earlier today, and he greeted me shortly after I was seated. I asked him about the menu, and he said that most of the items were small plates, three or four would make a nice meal. So...

-Parker House Rolls & Whipped Coconut Butter
-Oysters & Pearls
-Canned Soup of Watermelon Gazpacho
-Buffalo Fried Sweetbreads
-Bone Marrow, Tuna Tartare & Fried Quail Eggs
-Sugar Donuts, Coffee Glaze & Palm Sugar Ice Cream - Which was an "off the menu" special

-Maldito's Crutch (American Gin, Ginger, Angostura, Lillet Blanc, Mint)
-Latte

In a word: YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!

*I posted some pics on my Facebook Wall. Alas, since I only have my iPad with me, I can't really share or post them here on HHW.

Closest Bob Evans to here is probably still someplace in PA.  I always go there at least once when I'm in Cincinnati.

Is Bob EVans a regional chain?

Very broadly regional -- Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast -- I'm posting this without looking it up.  It originated in Ohio, though.
