Well, you've read the notes, the notes were quite Polish in tone, and now it is time for you to post until the Polish cows come home.

Good morning, all! After several sleepless turns over DEAREST ENEMY concerns, I decided that indeed Genug ist Genug and dragged myself out of bed at 4am. i'm on my first bit of coffee, and I've been through all of my Facebook birthday greetings. Around 7am, I will head down to Toyland, work there until noon and then come back here and wait for the delivery of my new air conditioner.

Thank you, DRs cillaliz and Danise for the birthday wishes! They are greatly appreciated. I'm only sorry that I missed them last night so I could have thanked you on the posts for Sept 19.

I hope I thanked everyone yesterday. Any omission was a grievous error on my part and only one more sign of my approaching senility. which some days is faster than I'd like.

good morning, all.

Great answer, DR Mike

Thursday vibes for all.

Question for the group at large: Is Thursday night a big bar night where you live? It's the biggest pickup night of the week here, and the anointed bar of the moment being packed to the rafters. That said, I'm working on refinancing my mortgage tonight, not drining.

Good late morning, all, with thanks and a tip of the hat to the cats for letting me sleep in a little bit.  House was quite cool upon awakening, so the heat is on for a little bit.  It is really classic Fall here these past couple of days.

TOD

I believe there is photographic evidence to the effect that I rode a horse or a pony a few times at children's zoos or some such during childhood.  I also rode a horse around someone's farm once in Central Florida when my high school chorus was on a field trip and we stayed overnight at people's houses.  And that, DRs, is that.  My entire history of horse riding.

Sports?  Does being able to walk and chew gum at the same time count?  Oh wait.  I don't chew gum.

We have a lot of "horse" people in my family....horse owners and riders.  I myself have ridden on occasion, but those animals are BIG!!!  We have owned a pony or two and my sister had a beautiful horse up until about two years ago.  Boarding gets to be very expensive.

I liked to play tennis and was FAIR at it, certainly I was no Guy Haines......

TOD:

I had the usual pony rides as a kid.  And have ridden a horse a few times.  Can't say I have enjoyed it.  I always seemed to be coming down when the horse was going up and I thought I'd just spare the family jewels that jostling ordeal of constant impact.

Played some High School Football, mostly peer pressure and because I was very fast which is why they wanted me to play.  But I wasn't very good and never much liked it.  Also played in summer baseball leagues, but again wasn't particularly adept at it and didn't really enjoy it, though I like to watch the game.  Also did some high school track because of my speed, but was hardly dedicated.  I usually won my matches in fencing class at college, but not because I was good but I was the only left-hander in the class and that confused them.  The only one who could beat me was my regular partner.  My apathy to sports frustrated my high school coaches because I was a natural athlete in terms of physique, but had no competitive nature regarding them.  I liked solitary goals.  I was and still am an excellent swimmer.  In my youth, I could go and down a peg board a half dozen times, had great speed and agility, but no interest in confronting a fastball, couldn't catch a cold in Siberia let alone a forward pass, and dribble a basketball? Not this lad.  My idea of sport is a cut-throat game of scrabble.

Thursday morning greetings!  It's another beautiful early autumn day here in SW Ohio.  Fr. Richard is off to the University of Dayton for a book discussion and I have 2 book-related meetings today.  This afternoon it's the Middfest Literature Committee and this evening my book group meets to discuss Ina Caro's Paris to the Past: Traveling through French History by Train.

Coffee for me, but I had Cheerios, strawberries, and 1% milk with it.  I'd love a doughnut...

Or, you can go out to the parking lot in George's car and "do" doughnuts!

As for the Topic of the Day...

-I have never ridden a horse.

-I played little league baseball and was a truly horrible player. The number of fly balls I let drop to the ground instead of in my baseball glove is legendary. ;) -And, of course, the one fly ball I attempted to catch tipped the top of my glove and landed on my right eye. Ouch!

-Otherwise, I loved playing soccer.

TOD:

I sat on a horse once, when I was 5 or 6 years old.

I wouldn't say that I was "good" at any sport. I did enjoy bowling, however.

During my school days I was always relieved when the focus was on track and field rather than team sports, since my team mates always seemed to take a dislike to me for not knowing how to play baseball, football, or whatever.

Oh, soccer was OK, also. Not as many rules to remember and it was fairly easy to not stick out like a sore thumb.

In Starbucks lingo that would be a "dirty". One more shot and it would become "filthy".
