I must be getting old.  I settled for a 3 Way tongiht.

Spaghetti, chili, & cheese?

Yep.  I liked the shredded cheese on the spagetti.

I may try making it next time with Nalley's Chili.

I might have liked the 3 Way more if I wasn't in such serious pain today.  My entire back (not just the lower back) is killing me.  I can barely move without stabbing pains.  Once I get some posts up, I am going to take two pills and call myself in the morning.

VIBES YOU REST WELL TONIGHT!!!

Here's another recipe, TCB, to add to your collection:

http://www.savorsa.com/2011/02/cincinnati-chili-aint-like-no-other/

I will keep that John.  I think the fact that there is actual ground beef in the recipe might help.  This canned chili is more a puree.

I have read both Sunday papers, had a bite to eat, and talked to my Mom on the phone.

I *so* miss the ritual of reading Sunday papers.

So why, you ask, do I not just do it?  They're still out there, you know.

Two reasons - both local.  In the past few years, the NY Times has just about priced itself out of all reason.  Not only in regard to home deliveries out in the 'burbs, but, as I understand it, even on the streets of Manhattan.  I love real newspapers more than I can say, but it got to a point where I had to say:  no more.  The other reason is that the distributor for out-of-town newspapers kept changing changing local carriers on me and delivery got really undependable.

In my last year or two in L.A., the Times was 25 cents daily, $1.00 Sunday.  Perfect.  And it was a beloved ritual to pick it up on a Sunday morning at the newsstand around the corner, or at the Mayfair Market along with my Van de Kamp cinnamon rolls, and enjoy it with my french press coffee on my little balcony.  It was a shock to get here and find the NY Times at about twice that (I don't remember now), but now I'd be elated to have those prices back.  It's just beyond belief.

Plus, the many ways in which the NY Times has consolidated its sections and cut back on coverage, it's just depressing.  I take what I can off the web, and that's it, I'm afraid.

That's why I read papers online. Yet, after 25 years in the newspaper business, I feel kinda lost.

The 2 papers we get here are the Cincinnati Enquirer and the Middletown Journal.  Not exactly the New York Times, but we enjoy them...

Oh, meant to ask you that.  I figured one would be the Enquirer!   :)

At any rate, I wasn't putting the LA Times or NY Times up against others -- those were just the "big" ones most central to me.

It's amazing to me that, no matter how accustomed I've gotten to reading papers online, I can pick up the occasional Sunday -- actually, even daily -- paper, sit down with it, and find a thousand percent more things of interest in it than I do online.

I would love to get the Sunday New York Times.  At one time, I subscribed to the Book Review - wonder if you can still do that?

I've been done with newspapers for decades, but had I not been when they went to half-sized paper that was the death knell right there.  Seeing newspapers today is like seeing some mutant newspaper.  It's awful.

DR jane did you notice what i wrote happened re: my book recommendation? :)

It is a Nook app called Nook Friends.  It said you liked "Best Books" by Conan Doyle 1 year ago.
Wow a year ago that is very odd since I've only had an ereader for 10 months. But why am i listed as a nook friend when i do not have a nook.   :)

SO, this has been quite a day.  I decided to use my lawnmower to mulch the leaves in the yard.  I ended up mowing the whole yard, then i decided I probably should start packing up all the outside stuff since I'll be busy most of the next two weekends and I can't count on the weather in November.  SO, I ended up cleaning out the second side of the garage (where I store stuff, not the car) and carrying in the tables, chairs, lions and tiki cat.  I put the electric bike in the basement and hung the regular bike from the hook in the garage.

I scratched the inside of my hand yesterday near my thumb. It doesn't look like a bad scratch. but it hurts. It's right where my thumb gets sore from using my kindle/using the computer mouse. :(

Put a band-aid on it for padding.
It actually sort of aches. And the muscle hurts.

As soon as I got done and sat down, the phone rang.  It was the new cat/house sitter.  She wanted to come over.   She called early.  She a nice visit.  Callie wasn't pleased, but she never is at medicine time. Katie also cleans and does other stuff to help people. She said she knows a good painter who is reasonable who may be able to do my hallway etc.   I do know her but have never had her work for me before. I know now it will be ok.
