Thursday evening greetings!  It's been a full day and evening here at the grant writers' conference in Indianapolis.  I've spent some time with my Dayton friends and met lots of new people.  Sessions have been good.  Posting isn't easy, because the hotel doesn't have free wifi so I have to use my iPhone.

LONG DAYS JOURNEY INTO NIGHT (James Tyrone)
HELLO, DOLLY! (Corneilius Hackl)
HELLO, DOLLY! (Horace)  Thirty years apart

SCROOGE THE MUSICAL (Scrooge)
OLIVER (Fagin)
Peter Pan (Captain Hook)

Favorite Shows - Directing

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
SHE LOVES ME
THE BAT

I've just read that John Cena is the victim of a celebrity death hoax.  The report was that he was doing a wrestling stunt with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and suffered a fatal injury.

To the best of my knowledge, he is alive and well.

These things are difficult to suss out.

When I read this, I read "John Cena" but for some reason thought of "Michael Cera" and wondered why would Michael Cera be wrestling with The Rock??

Wouldn't you wrestle with the Rock?

TOD:

I could write a book...or, at least, several chapters in a book, about my experiences in community theatre.  In fact, I already did.

Didn't most of us here get our first show biz experiences in community theatre?

I think the incident that sticks in my mind more than any other is the dreadful way that the people at Seattle's Cirque Playhouse treated legendary character actor Charles Winninger when he played there.

On a more positive note, being able to work on productions that featured the likes of actors like Winninger, John Carradine, Edward Everett Horton and others was the greatest experience an aspiring actor, writer or director could have.

What years did you work at the Cirque.  In its last years 72 - 81, the Cirque was strictly an Equity House.  I auditioned for a few shoes, but was never cast.

Late 1950s

Definitely not the same. Apparently Tony Danza was also victim of a celebrity death hoax, too.

Tony Danza's death hoax probably followed his marriage to Liza hoax.

See's Chocolates is opening a store in the San Antonio Northstar Mall (the one with the big boots, for those who know their San Antonio trivia). Not a kiosk, but a full, year-round store. To celebrate they had a party where they gave out free chocolate and told some history of the place.

One bit of trivia was that the chocolate episode of "I Love Lucy" was filmed at See's (I know, it looked like a set to me). But that setup is how they operate. So, they had a chocolate boxing contest to see who could box the most chocolates in the quickest time. I won my division and got to keep the candies, which, luckily for me, were coconut cream, one of my faves.

Now, I am on a sugar high.

Congrats.  I would have preferred butter creams, but they are your candies, not mine.

One of my former co-workers is taking me out to lunch at the Tulalip Casino tomorrow.  It seems kind of silly to drive two hours for lunch, but hey I am just the passenger.
