I just got flowers!  I can't recall the last time such a thing happened, but it's been a few years, I think.  From the East Coast Singer.

No flooding on West 82nd Street. Of course, it may be different at West 82nd street and West End Avenue, but I doubt it. The park is on lower ground.

Good to hear!

DRJose just tweeted that the Cheldea Piers is completely under water. I suspect everything along the Hudson is flooded.

I had just started making dinner

I am so glad I invested in some good heavy pots a couple of years ago --- I had just boiled the water with hthe widl rice in it and heated the roasted chicken  and peas

the pots were all covered and retained enough heat to finish the cooking so we had a nice dinner

I've had that happen.  It is frustrating when it doesn't finish cooking.

I don't have high expectations - I suspect we are low priority  - short block with only 10 houses

It is not very big but keeping the fridge going and one lamp is really enough to make things reasonably comfortable

Great priorities!  Be careful with the generator - I heard today about dangers of carbon monoxide...

Alyce Mott just posted this on Facebook:

Connecticut has thousands of people stranded in houses totally surrounded by water who were dumb enough to think they could ride this out. They are telling folks to stay put and go to the highest point in their dwelling and hang tough - Connecticut Governor called this a Katrina situation.

250,000 people in Manhattan now in the dark - I'm not one although the lights have flickered a bit.

Now there's a major fire (five buildings) in Rockaway Park - three of the buildings have collapsed - firefighters went to buildings by boat. They saved 25 people in a boat in chest high water - WOW. It just keeps getting crazier and crazier.

My friend Matt reported that his apartment on the 3rd floor is okay, but the first floor is flooded and his car is underwater.

I'm sure the boat dock at 79th and the Hudson is a disaster area.

We priced them for out here and they were very expensive.  We haven't a clue how to install one & would need to hire someone.  I hope we never really need one.

Hoda Kotb tweeted this picture of Saks Fifth Avenue with the windows boarded up.  This is the store where DRs Cillaliz, Danise, Jane and I had makeovers in 2005.
