Back from shoveling.  Ugh.  Not real shoveling, just scraping.  Had an inch or so of wet snow covering the lower driveway, but it was very slick.  Unfortunately, that stuff isn't worth taking out a plow for, too heavy and wet for the snow blower, and this part's in shade so it never goes away on its on...so there's only one thing left.  Shovel-plowing.  A way of life here.

Good morning, all.

Went to bed a little earlier than usual, just needing the escape of sleep from the storm raging outside and from the nagging worry that power could be lost again.  Enjoyed a blessedly solid sleep, and thankfully, there was no outage, no damage, nothing to speak of except the predictably annoying snow cleanup in the driveway today.  And even that shouldn't be too horrible because in a typical mid-winter nor'easter we can get, easily, two or three times this amount of snow.  From the window it only looks like a few inches.  All in all, in the scheme of things in this here part of the world, I have plenty to be grateful for.  Including...

coffee!!

I might have to rethink my statement on snowfall.  Our official measurement is reported to be 9.9 inches!

Thursday morning greetings!  I have survived the prep and am now ready for the main event.  I want drugs, a sandwich, and to sleep for about 17 hours.  Oh, and a clean report...

The worst part is over.

 :o

 FAIRFIELD COUNTY
 Monroe, 11.5
 Danbury, 9.9
 Bridgeport, 8
 Ridgefield, 8
 Darien, 7.9

 NEW HAVEN COUNTY
 North Haven, 13.5
 Hamden, 12
 Meriden, 10.8
 Naugatuck, 9.1
 New Haven, 9       (etc.)...

But it really varies everywhere.  My property has an average of maybe four to five inches, and on the asphalt it only accumulated to maybe two.

I remember it often depended which way the wind was blowing.

I swear, there is a ghost in Toyland. I've lost the first three pages of a song and I cannot find them anywhere. I had them at 9:30 and I've been looking for them fo over an hour.

The Ghosts of Toyland. I love it. The spirit of Ray Bolger comes back to relive one of his least successful performances and has a duet with Marie Antoinette, wandering in from the Ghosts of Versailles, while the ghosts of Follies girls past descend a spectral staircase. Ibsen's there, somewhere, but only as methaphorical set-piece.

I am NOT enjoying reading about the SNOWFALL.....I know it is coming for us....sooner or later....

But the forecast doesn't indicate anything NEXT week.....so hopefully The Crucible will end its run BEFORE snow falls.

Found a live recording of Patricia Routledge singing "Duet for One" from "1600 Pennsylvania Ave." She's wonderful:

Couldn't get to page three, but looks like it's fine now.  I'm up after over nine hours of sleep.  Looks like it may have drizzled this morning but the sun is on it way out.  And Facebook seems to be down?

Well, probably no stopping Titanic although we can try - the problem is it was a cast of thirty and then there's the entire MTG membership all telling their friends so it's a LOT of people.  We were ahead last night significantly but it's reversed right now.  So, if you haven't voted do.  Ultimately I think they have a way of telling if there are multiple votes coming from the same person.
