Saturday morning greetings!  Not much to say today, except "Go, Blue!" and "Go, Bearcats!"  Michigan plays Northwestern and Cincinnati plays Temple, both at noon, on different networks.

Good morning, all! I got home late and slept in this morning. Around 9 or so this morning, I decided I was coing down with a cold and decided to sleep longer. I hope I am not, bumy freind Fionnuala is definitely sick; she told me her cold came on as soon as the Wexford Opera season, where she's concert mistress, ended last week.

So, I'm about two hours behind my proposed schedule this morning. My day s open until 5pm today, when I meet Jonathan for dinner and see his show at Lincoln Center, so I think I'll do the laundry that I had meant to do two hours ago.

Last night, Finnoula, Lynda, their friend Ger, and I had dinner at the apartment of Molly on East 97th Street. Molly is an Irish retired friend of Fionnuala wh worked for Elizabeth Arden. She prepared a very simple but wonderful dinner of zucchini, roast pork, boiled potatoes, and a nut cake with fresh fruit. It wasavery Irish evening, and I had a really good time.

More coffee and then it's time for the laundry!

With a little splash of Irish whiskey in it to ward off the chill.

It's Saturday.  And it's cold (for us-- especially lately).  Not as rainy as it's supposed to be, but at least it feels like some season other than summer.

There were some other nice pictures in the DePauw paper that I will scan for HHW this week.

Here is our final curtain call pose.....I am third from the left,  standing beside my wife....a freshman girl who is the worst actress in the play, if not the world.

Nice photo.  Sorry about the wife.

Hi all!  I'm sorry I missed the celebration.  I was on the phone with Thelma for a bit because we haven't been in contact for awhile.

The house is still having it's problems.  They were going to come and pour the concrete for the laundry room then that got canceled because of the septic.  They somehow thought I was connected to city sewage but I have a septic hole.

Anyway things have been up and down with work and all.  Well things are about to change.  Hopefully for the better but I can't post about it until after Tuesday when I'm sure.   So stay tuned for the (hopefully) happy news!

Vibes the septic hole situation is corrected & they can pour the concrete.

STAYING TUNED FOR HAPPY NEWS & VIBES IT HAPPENS!!!!

Vibes to DR Chas for quick recovery.

Speaking of medical: Have any people had any reactions to this year's flu shot that are unusual?
Sounds like for some, the prevention is worse than what they're curing.

Nope.

I can't take the live virus shot without getting extremely ill.  Fortunately I don't have to worry about that anymore.

Too many good things came in from the library all at once. Got the first season of "Homeland" as well as the original "Cat People" and a vampire flick that's supposed to be really scary, "Let the Right One In."

Foie gras sale today. I spent too much money. Even on sale, it's expensive.

No reaction from me, just a bit warm at the injection site for a day or so.   I haven't had the flu since I started getting the shots, I get one every year

DITTO!

Thanks to all who commented.  We've actually helped a lot of people, but this family has gone through so much to be able to be together.  I guess it's because they are Somali, but still.  I mean my client works at an ice cream factory, how much more American can you get, lol

Today is supposed to be warm but the cold is coming sometime later today with thunderstorms etc.  So this morning I got an early start on my yard work.  Got the front by the road raked and put out a lot of grass seed.  The drought killed a lot of the yard, but this part died before the drought got really bad.  Then I hauled in three bags of softener salt (40# each) and raked out the leaves in the storm sewer drains in the street.  Now I'm resting.  I wanted to put up plastic in the windows today, but it's already a bit windy and that makes it a pain in the butt, so I'll just clean out the eaves on the garage and call the outside work done.

It's a beautiful day in Manhattan. It's in the 50s and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 60s! How long will this glorious weather last? I hope it lasts long enough for the unload of our annual volunteer work on November 30th.

I have been in and out all day since about 9am and I have to go out again because I need socks. I will go to Marshall's and/or TJ Maxx in the Bed Bath and Beyond Complex to see what they have. The problem is (which I've talked about many times) I have small feet (size 6) and it's hard to find shoes and socks. That's why I hate shopping so much. It's hard to find anything that fits!!! But, there are other people who have much worse problems than finding socks that fit so I'll shut up.

I'm looking forward to the days off for Thanksgiving. My office closes early and because I go in early I will leave even earlier (around 11:30am). I will do nothing but eat, sleep and see friends on Long Island.

Is ths the original Swedish film, which is quite wonderful, or the American remake I could not get through?  While I liked the film, I found the book much better.

And the laundry is finished.

I had the flu shot on Wednesday. The only reaction I had was that my arm hurt and I was a bit under the weather for a day or two.

The original Swedish movie. But it will have to wait until after "Homeland," which got me hooked in the first few minutes.
