George, do you have any desire to see FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at Village?  Matt Posner is in it, if that affects your decision one way or another.

Do you need a driver?  I hadn't thought about going, but if I had company, that sounds like fun. :)

Yes, I've got the car and the gasoline, but I do need a driver.  It opened last Thursday, but it runs until the end of December in Issaquah.

Great!

I just watched an episode of "Firefly" and Zac Efron played the younger version of their doctor.  And now, Christina Hendricks (from "Mad Men") plays a woman who married (without his knowledge or consent) captain Mal. :D

If she married Mal, I assume she will die by the end of the episode.

Terrific.  We will make plans.  Do you know Vince Wingerter?  He is also in the show, as well as my friend Julian who played Sky Masterson in my production of GUYS AND DOLLS.

Our church  has a paid minister of music who runs our choirs - (adult praise choir, adult traditional choir, children's choir, youth choir, string choir, three bell choirs, and brass chorale)  as well as being our organist on Sundays - but we have no paid singers
Sounds like ours, too. We have a traditional choir, bell choir, youth chimes, youth bells, youth choir, two praise teams, and a number of soloists, but only the paid music director.

Am on the last episode of the first season of Homeland. Great writing. Wonderful suspense.

I think I need to find a different church.  One with a little more to their music program.

I raised a little under $100. I'm aiming for enough to pay one of pianists, get some appropriate party supplies & prizes, & entice a venue into hosting me. I'm thinking a couple hundred more at the least. I also want to get some performers from the drag & burlesque communities, & I want to be able to guarantee them something. Most likely it will be out of the cover charge. Which I want to be affordable. So the more I can raise, the less I have to worry about it the night of the event.

Oh! And in August/September I organized a mostly successful costume swap meet for charity. I say mostly successful, because I had vendors that just about had more items than there was space for them, but I really would've liked to raise more for the charity. Well, it was good for a first time effort. It will be better next year.

Those all sound great.  Keep us informed.  Have you thought of trying Kickstarter for the Mae West project?

Wow, that is a lot of choirs.

yep = and this is his part time job!  He is a music teacher in a public school.  He also has two sons, 1 and 3 - and works with our youth - hard worker that one!

I used Indiegogo, because I didn't want to deal with paypal. I got a couple donations, but I really started it too late.

I had made up a lovely donation letter & form that I was going to send to some businesses, but then got cold feet about asking for money, especially as a relative unknown. I also didn't even really have the money to get them all printed, which was kind of sad.
I started the Indiegogo account & blasted it to my friends for about a month, but that's about as far as it went.
Close to the 11th hour, I got desperate & emailed some of the businesses with the Indiegogo link.
I didn't hear back from one of them.
Which was probably better than getting "Who the hell are you?" but it does make me a little worried about asking them next year. My hope is that it went into their spam folders & that they never saw it. :/

Yesterday, I finished the first draft of my 2nd book of Hollywood memoirs, which I am calling LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HOLLYWOOD.  It contains stories about Rock Hudson, Christopher Lee, Jane Fonda, Charles Nelson Reilly, Janet Leigh, Tennessee Williams and a bunch of other famous folk who I didn't have room to include in the first book.

My wife is currently reading it, and I don't suppose it will be out until the 3rd or 4th quarter of next year.

Congrats, Druxy!

Oh! And my chanteuse alter-ego's name is Meg West. *chortle*
She's inspired by Mae West (of course), Sophie Tucker, & Ethel Waters.
And to a lesser extent, Marlene Dietrich & Pearl Bailey.

I made her a facebook page here:
