Watching the YouTube footage of Lansbury is fascinating. Her Rose tries to upstage Gypsy at every turn in "Together." There's more hatred of and exasperation with Louise than any other Rose I've encountered. She is the star, no matter if she's not in the spotlight. Oddly enough, it's the one recording I never bought on CD.

I listen to the Tyne Daly recording the least because of her cold she supposedly had on the day of the recording. It makes her sound unmusical, which her other recordings, "Call Me Madam" and "On the Town," belie. I do like Christa Moore and Jonathan Hadary, though.

RE: The Outside the Box webseries...since I was absent on the day this was being discussed, I do want to make it known that although I might not have made mention each time a new episode was up, I have certainly enjoyed them all, with my particular favorite being the very first episode and the Exorcist episode.

BK, do be aware that people may watch and enjoy, but not comment.

I do that many times on Facebook. I will see a post or photo or a video that gives me a very good laugh or make me smile. Sometimes I will "like" it, sometimes I will comment on it, sometimes I will even "share" it. But sometimes I might just enjoy it and move on to other things. But it doesn't mean that I did not like it.

I am sure you must do the same. No doubt you have read some of my interviews with various B movie stars which have been published in magazines that you have, or have had subscriptions to (VideoWatchdog; Scarlet Street, Scarlet the Film Magazine). However, you have never once mentioned on HHW or in person as to whether you liked the interview or not. In fact there has been total silence from you in regards to my work.

Possibly this means that you did not enjoy the interviews. But if you did enjoy them, and said nothing about them to me, well, there is an example.

MBarnum, I don't think that's quite accurate - I'm fairly certain when I was reading these things, which I haven't for years now, that I said something about enjoying the interview or interviews I read.  The sad fact is, I haven't read anything in any of those magazines for probably six years now - when the new version of Scarlet came I got the first three issues because they sent them to me, but I never had time to actually even open them - they're still sitting in the book room unread.  But of the ones I've looked at prior to all that, I certainly enjoyed them and I'm pretty sure I either said it to you in person or here.

Although, as a child, I may or may not have been stolen by Gypsies.

...or "abandoned" by gypsies?    ;)

Oh, I hadn't thought of that!

I can see it now...a band of roving gypsies native to India...and one of the young women finds herself with child from an American.  The child is born with blue eyes and blond hair...and the king of the gypsies says, "No way, Sanya!  You must give him up."

And "that" would explain a lot!   ;)

Congratulations, George, on your preferred candidate getting the job at the library.

Congrats to DR GEORGE on the right person getting the job!

Thanks John and Jack.  Everyone seems pretty happy about it.  And, since she's local, it won't take very long for her to start the job...assuming that the negotiations go well. :)

In about thirty minutes I'll begin the long drive to Arleta - hopefully it won't take much longer than thirty minutes to get there.

I watched THE ARROW last night....and I think I saw John Barrowman on there playing something - but the scene went by pretty fast.

Then I watched SUPERNATURAL.....not quite used to it being on Wednesdays yet....after MANY YEARS on Friday.

And you know you'll get it.

Excellent.

Tonight on TCM  - The Iron Petticoat starring Bob Hope and Katharine Hepburn.

I have never seen this movie.....but I think I will give it a look.   I remember many years ago seeing an ad for it in a book, but I had NEVER heard of it.....the previews look pretty horrendous......and the production history is tumultuous....

I will be there in front of the screen at 8 p.m. EST.

In the promos for THE IRON PETTICOAT there is a shot of Ms Hepburn crying which makes her look.....well....scary....

Since BK first mentioned Arleta, I've waited for my brain to kick in and recall where that is.  It never came to me, so I've looked it up and am ready to sit back and enjoy the travelogue.

What the world really needs for these occasions are tiny cams mounted inside and outside the BK-mobile, and a running commentary.

This could be the next web series.  A weekly trip around town -- as educational as CASH CAB, but rivaling COPS for nerve-shattering excitement.

Barrowman is a recurring character...he's the MAJOR bad guy in the city.

Oh, joy (kinda sorta!):

My Blu ray Hitchock Box arrived today.  It was shipped from the UK on Nov. 10.  19 days it took to get here.  I got the Universal Monster Box from the UK in less than 8 days.

Oh, well!

Arleta sounds like the name of a dusty, dried-up Texas town out in the middle of nowhere (except for oil fields and rigs).

"The Sun Never Sets on Arleta"...that should be the title of someone's next book.

DR Vixmom I'm very grateful the chemo worked for you.  Your odds were also much better to begin with and I was far more positive of your success.

I haven't given up on my friend yet, surgery may have taken care of it.

AND I got word that our library board has offered the library director position to our internal candidate and just about everyone that I'd talked to really wanted her to get the job...including me!  Tomorrow will be a good day at work!

That's great so many people are happy about this.

Mine shipped on the 11th and was delivered on the 21st.  Following (or trying to follow) its progress was quite the roller-coaster ride.

Yes, this is true.  The publishers decide who they sell to and for how much.  It's ridiculous that certain publishers will also sell the downloadable audiobooks to libraries for $50, $80, or even $100...for a frakin' download!

How much do they sell the eBooks for?  Does the price go down with multiple purchases?
