Voldemort is basically a middle school girl: he has a locket, a diary, a tiara, a ring, and is completely obsessed with a teenage boy.

TOD:

CD - THIS CHRISTMAS - yes, again, while doing a little decorating last night.  And btw I sold a copy -- friend will be placing her order later today.

DVD - HOLIDAY INN - just out of curiosity, watched the Legend-colorized version.  Oy!!!  This was entirely experimental, of course, I'd never seriously watch any such thing.  But it's just crazy for anyone to think that, even if colorizing a particular piece of film might be desirable for some bizarre reason, that it can actually work.  I doubt it can ever be made to work.  Even if managing flesh tones can someday be figured out, since that challenge kills the whole idea from the get-go.  I could go on.  Oh yes, how I could go on.  But that's enough energy spent on this subject.

BLU - Tonight's pleasure will be GYPSY, straight through.

More later, no doubt, as there's always plenty to ketchup on.

My dad had the idea of doing a sort of reverse "Wizard of Oz" with "It's a Wonderful Life."  Have the first part of the movie in color (colorized) when George Bailey is "alive" but when Clarence makes him never have existed, change to the original black and white.  Then colorize it when he becomes real again.  I actually bought a colorized DVD to try and do it, but it was copyguarded and I couldn't record it to my DVD burner. :-\

And the big thing is: Episode two of this season's Outside the Box has just passed 10,000 views.  And the Hal Linden episode is coming up to that quickly.

Congrats, BK!

A live version of "Sound of Music" with Carrie Underwood:

Carrie Underwood?  Really?  Really??
The Sound of Money.

Remember the Mad magazine spoof. It went something like this:

Dough means cash for all of us
'Ray for musicals like this
Me a star so big by
Far, it couldn't really miss
So, they picked me for the part
La ti do, la ti ti do
Tea, we'll drink it after this.
And that will bring us much more
Dough, dough, dough

Jealous of Indiana's and SW Ohio's weather.  We're cold today and supposed to get a little bit of white stuff tomorrow.  May not be more than a light covering of wintry mix, but even light wintry mixes can be ugly when they get slick.

I remember when she was on American Idol and they had a night dedicated to music from Broadway musicals.  Carrie sang "Climb Evry Mountain" and Simon was appalled (he HATES musical theater, apparently).

I thought George said (last night) that in his prodcution of GYPSY, that his Rose was an old-fashioned better, like Ethel.  Now I had never heard that Ethel liked to gamble, but I suppose anyone marrying Ernest Borgnine would have to be a bit of a gambler.

Media report - on DVD, Richard and I have been watching a lecture series about London from The Teaching Company.  Now, we're about to eat pizza and watch Shakespeare in Love.

I have never had a problem with colorized films.  As long as  no harm is done to the original, I don't even mind watching them in color. Unfortunately, there is whole new generation fo film-goers, who will not watch any film in black and white.  And if seeing a colorized version of a film, makes this person a fan of the film - I have  no problem with it.

However - if you are an I Love Lucy fan, I would recommend that now and then you watch an episode or two with the closed captions on - they are very cleverly done.....

Good point, and thanks for the heads up on that, DR Jrand62.

There are some amazingly good subtitles and closed captions out there.  They can not only come in very handy for clarifying something now and then (they're a godsend on WIRED, for instance), but they can be just plain fun and enjoyable to watch sometimes.

I used them for THE FULL MONTY and for GOSFORD PARK.

My ex-boyfriend is from Pakistan.  I was able to record the DVD of "The Sound of Music" (coincidentally) onto a videotape with the subtitles on so that he could follow along more easily.  He didn't have a DVD player at that time and his TV didn't have closed captioning.

Back from my haircut and errands, one of which was dropping off a favorite sweater at the dry cleaner.  The clerk had such a tough time spelling my last name that I wonder if I'll ever see that sweater again...

Hmmm, such a difficult name.  Did the clerk speak English ;D

Yes, but I think either she was drunk or I'd awakened her from a nap.  You should have seen the look on her face when she asked my address and I told her "Poinciana Road."

;D

Very warm today....and the first four days of December will be in the 60's temperature wise here in Indiana.

This afternoon while doing errands it got very warm and reached 60 degrees.  I was expecting more rain & all I got was a drizzle on and off. :)

Get out the lawnmower!

I read these so quickly that Jennifer's comment and Ron's response merged together:
I am in a bad mood.

Get out the lawnmower!

That's a drastic -- but not unheard of -- response.

LOL I did the same thing.
