and I forgot to add:

A most happy birthday cake day to DR Michael Barnum

Thanks DR Mike. I don't know if I will get cake today, but I do know there is some berry pie in my future...and actually it is sitting on my kitchen counter.

Watched the latest Outside Box and really enjoyed it, but I think it could have done without the leper musical number. Maybe because it didn't have Kevin Symons or Damon Kirsche. But I see that other people enjoyed it. I guess that's what makes chariot races.

a) Kevin is in The Leper Colony number in several reaction shots.  b) there was no way not to do a leper colony number if you're doing Ben-Hur as a musical.

Loved the leper number.

My weekend was long and ended on a really sour note.  I need to get my bearings and get moving forward again.  I'll catch up when I have time later today.

Best Wishes to you!

Question:

We also are thinking about getting a cat.

Is it better (i.e. safer) to bring a dog into a house that already has a cat?   Or, vice versa?

Best to rescue a set if possible ;)

Do you know if this dog is ok with cats?  Are you planning on a kitten or an adult?  If the dog is fine with cats a kitten should adjust.  If an adult, either cat or dog, it is best to find out how they react to other pets.

When you rescue from pets in foster you get a better sense of what they are fine with.  Often people who foster have both dogs & cats.

The only time we had a cat....we already had a dog....  I don't remember that there were problems.....

Usually there aren't, at least in my personal experiences.  I do know some dogs, such as Huskies raised without a cat, will attack them.  Plenty of adult cats do not accept a dog, especially an adult dog.  They are more likely to adjust to the puppy since they can initially tell the pup they are the boss.

I'm sure you can find a dog & cat that will get along, just be sure to ask some questions.  If you really like this dog you are having for a visit, ask a friend with a cat if they can meet (keeping pooch on a leash).  You will quickly know if the dog is aggressive or not.

Happiest of birthdays to DR MBarnum!

As of this morning, you have a new birthday twin - our great-niece Rachel was born about 8:30!

Congrats, Ginny and Rachel...and anyone else involved! ;)

CAREER has just arrived! :D

As has the new Munich concert cast recording of Sweeney Todd (which is sung in English).  I haven't read glowing reviews for this recording, but it's Sondheim, so I must have it. ;)

Happiest of birthdays to DR MBarnum!

As of this morning, you have a new birthday twin - our great-niece Rachel was born about 8:30!

Oh how sweet! Happy first day to Rachel!

Thank you, DR MBarnum!  We knew a baby was coming today, but no one (including the parents) knew if it would be a boy or girl.

Thank you, DR Jane!  This looks like something my niece (not Rachel's mom) would make.

Thanks, DR George!  Rachel's mom is our niece Rev. Amy.  She's the oldest daughter of Richard's late brother John.

Indeed congrats to the new great Aunt & Uncle.

Thanks, DR JRand!  We'll get to meet Rachel in 2 weeks when we're trapped staying overnight in Lima after Sunday's service to do Christmas Eve before we drive home.

To be fair, the church governing committee pleased me very much yesterday when they set the time for the Christmas Eve service for 5pm.  Much better than Midnight Mass, seeing as we have a 2-hour drive home!

Oh My!  Absolutely much better DR Ginny.

Actually, it never really was scheduled for midnight, but there had been some talk of 7pm.  I like 5 much better.

And I do love a beautiful candlelight midnight Christmas Eve service, but not at a church so far from home.
