DR ELMORE did you know Schorling Schneider an actor who lived in NYC for many years.....he was also an AIDS activist particularly with Equity.....
No, DR JRand62, I didn't. I had several friends from the Book Shop and Men's Chorus who were heavily involved with ACT UP. I have a memory of talking on the phone to Spencer around 1990-1992, when I learned that he was positive - someone from the Book Shop might have told me - but we lost touch after that, and I had honestly thought for the past 10 years or so that he had died.
After a while, you just assume that someone you knew was positive has passed on if a space of time has gone when you hear nothing from them, although in Spencer's case, if I had been
au courant on the AIDS issue, I would have known he was still around. Between 1982 and 2012, I've lost too many friends to that damned plague. We living must tell their stories, sing their praises, and insure that they are not forgotten or overlooked.
