Dan (the Man), I have house finches, Gila woodpeckers, a flicker, peach-faced lovebirds, white crowned sparrows, quail, curve-billed thrashers, Anna's hummingbirds, and cactus wrens that visit my birdfeeders. As well as the invasive pigeons, house sparrows, and starlings.

I probably need to upgrade to a better brand of seed.  Right now I'm using Pennington wild bird seed from Home Depot.

Loved reading the various responses to "Les Miz." May try to see it this weekend, if possible.

My sister took my parents to see it yesterday with my nephew. Apparently, all of them loved it.

I have to say (well, I don't really have to, but I'm going to)...I thought that Russell Crowe was the acting and singing weak link of the show.  He was just two-dimentional in his acting and didn't really "emote" with his singing.  He wasn't as intense or driven as you would expect Javert to be.

Just my additional 2¢.

Except for "The Sum of Us," I can't say I've been a big fan of his work.

He's so good in "Proof"!

Just saw something most amusing on the Film Score Monthly message board.  The label that likes to make pre-pre-pre announcements has just done their first pre-pre-pre announcement for 2013, basically telling everyone that they've got a humungous release schedule for 2013 that will not abate, glut be damned.  But here's the amusing part - the thread title - Farewell 2012 - Hello 2013 complete with exclamation point.  Why is that amusing?  Well, for any of our usual denizens around these here parts, you'll know that exact phrase with the exception of the changing years, is always how I title the New Year's Eve notes.  Every year.  Do I think this is coincidence?  No.  Is it?  No.  Does it tell me something interesting?  Oh, yes, it tells me something interesting all right.

BK it could be a coincidence. I read the notes every day and would not know that is the phrase you use every January 1st. It is a pretty common phrase.

I forgot about the goldfinches. And the mockingbirds.

I put out black-oil sunflower seeds, shelled peanuts, unshelled peanuts (the pigeons can't get those - they are for the woodpeckers and the thrashers), nyjer seed for the goldfinches. And a half an apple for the mockingbird.

I've been trying to find out something about the scarf Bryan sent me.  It is from the Ohio Knitting Mills but they don't have anything on their website.

Bryan is sweet to send gifts but I'm always telling him to leave the pretty wrapped packages empty as it is the pretty package I like the best. 

I don't know what the yarn is on the scarf but I seem to be somewhat allergic too it, plus it is so long it goes all the way down to my knees.  It would look very pretty on a long black coat I have except, to my horror, it began to shed all over the coat. 

I've got to figure out some way to wear this.
