Sigh. I miss the snow. It's been in the low 60s with some rain here in LA and I'm delighted with cool temps and precip.

I know it isn't Wednesday, so we can't Ask BK, but we don't have a Ask GH (Guy Haine) Day.  So, may I ask if Mr. Haines has ever thought of recording the Main Theme from LOST HORIZON?

I just lost a post.

The LA Times says that Junior's will be closing by the end of the year. Since this is December 27 that's very soon!

After the big snowstorm in yesterday I thought I might not make it back home today, but I'm here.

Of course my flight was delayed for about 2 hours.

Oh, yeah, my luggage didn't arrive with me.  I'm waiting for it to be delivered.

At least it is on the way to you...just in case...

Safe luggage arrival vibes!!!

On Christmas Day I learned that my cousin Marion and her husband have both passed away. Marion and I had not been close in recent years, but she was the link to the part of the family that I was close to.

Jeanne, my condolences to you and to your family.

DR Jeanne, that is very sad.  Were they in an accident together?  Even when we don't stay close to certain people their passing can hit us very hard, especially those we grew up with.

No, not an accident. Several months apart. I don't have all the details yet.

That is extra hard to hear the news so far after it happened.

The last time my parents visited my mom's family in Germany, she found out that her father had died a couple of years before that.  She actually had never known her dad and was never was told that he was even still alive.

I don't know the details, but she was born in Germany during WW2, so I guess that an unwed mother with children from different fathers was not all that unusual. :-\

It happens more often than some people would care to acknowledge, George. It happened in my family and it's still considered a dark ugly secret to those of a different, older generation.

Why was I the last to know that Jaymes, part of the Chippendale's dancer duo competing on this last season's The Amazing Race, was gay? No mention was made during the show, but still everyone I know already knew.

He was one of the nicest people I have ever watched compete on this show, I must say.

Which one is gay Jaymes? Since they both have the same name I never knew which was Jaymes and which was James.

Gay Jaymes is the one with blonde hair whose dad has cancer.

Too bad.  I think the other one is hotter.

That must have been very strange for her.

Had meeting two and that was also a good meeting.  Picked up a couple of packages, came home, wrote more commentary (now two-thirds through) and shall now be on my way to sup with the Jones's.

Great news about Sharon!

Bad news for Paul!

My prayers to both of them.

Good evening, all.

Back from Lincoln Center, where I, and a nearly full house, enjoyed PLAYTIME.  I didn't get the flawless print I'd dreamed about, but the experience of seeing the film on a large screen with a like-minded audience is well worth the imperfections.

Oy!  BK's neighbors must have spent weeks secretly planning and coordinating all of that, and then it backfires right in their face.    :o

SICK to hear about Junior's.  Sick of this happening.  Everywhere.  And I'm getting sick and tired of saying how sick and tired I am of it.

Whoa!   :)

I do not dislike that idea.  No sir, I don't.

I read Le Miz when I was in 8th or 9th grade.

Now days, I have trouble sitting thru the musical LE MIZ.  I can't imagine trying to read the book again.

Was all set to make Moroccan Meatloaf for dinner tonight, but the ground beef didn't thaw, so I'll guess I'll have whatever I can scrape up in the fridge.

Does Moroccan Meatloaf contain goat eyeballs?

On Christmas Day, George hogged all of the snow down at his house.  So we had to settle for a Wet Christmas.

Watching the remake of "Spider-Man," which is thankfully not the musical version. It's actually very good. I don't know that the movie was needed (it covers the same ground as the first Tobey Maguire version), but it is enjoyable.

Nope, but it has lemon juice and fresh ginger in the meat. And a spicy, harissa-like sauce on top.
