John, during the Alamo Bowl today, they showed a lot of film of the River Walk.  It looks really beautiful.

Landscaping the yard, seeing the dipper & now the woodpecker, definitely exciting highlights of the year.

I mustn't forget the beginning of the year.  Riding a water speed bike, or whatever it is called, in incredibly beautiful Moorea was a lifetime experience.  Included in this was the friendly sting ray that snuggled round & round our legs for us to pet during a short stop at shore to meet him.

Are you sure it was a male stingray.  We were told that only the females (the larger of the two) will interact with humans.  When we swam with the stingrays, the males stayed on the bottom and wouldn't come near us.

I'm not sure & don't remember which they told us this was.  I'll ask Keith if he remembers.  This sting ray listened for the sound of the motors and first headed to the guide for the treats the guide held.  We didn't have treats to hand out and it was still affectionate with us.  I will say Keith & I watched the tail very carefully.  Amazing was how soft the body was.

When they signaled the stingrays, there had to be, at least, 30 of them show up.  They gave us treats and we were allowed to let them eat off of our hands.  I literally got a "hickey" on the palm of my hand from the suction.

I think that was a good reason to leave town, especially with a Texas team playing. But, yes, the River Walk is beautiful.

I remember when I came to San Antonio for my job interview. I had a bad cold with a fever, and the interview ended up including lunch on the River Walk on the day that everyone was in town for the Alamo Bowl. It was a sea of purple and yellow. I forget the teams that played back in late 1998, but I doubt I'll ever forget the sight. I loved the River Walk instantly, even with all those thousands walking on it, and that sold me on the city, even as I was not in a right mind to concentrate on much else.

One person interviewing me wanted me to write a review of the lunch we had had as part of the test. I couldn't smell, so I couldn't taste. All I wanted to do was get to my hotel room, turn up the heat and sleep. Thankfully, they had me do something else.

LOL!  Lucky that didn't become the deciding factor for getting the job.

I'll bet the River Walk is a nice place for a romantic moonlight strool.

Is strool a combination of a stroll and drool?

Yes, 1776 and LI'L ABNER are two great ones, right up there along with THE MUSIC MAN.

But somehow or other, THE MUSIC MAN just wins, for being ... THE MUSIC MAN.

At my age, probably.

DR TCB it doesn't sound pathetic and it is a big deal.

Indeed! I'm really happy for you, DR TCB!

I posted this on Facebook as I refused to post what I thought about the "Les Miserables" movie as I didn't want to see the responses to why I'm WRONG in feeling as I did.

So, DR's, I propose these questions to you:

1. What stage to screen adaptation of a musical do you think has been most successful? And I don't mean financially, just the adaptation itself.

2. What non-musical movie that has been adapted for the stage as a musical has been the most successful with the adaptation? (not financially)

3. What MOVIE-MUSICAL that has had a stage adaptation has been successful?

1. For newer movies I enjoyed RENT and EVITA. Although I liked the stage versions more. I am trying to think of a newer movie where I liked the movie more.

I am wondering if Ginny is staying up for the Michigan State game tonight?  It just started.

Watched the beginning, but need to pay attention to my knitting.  And Richard wants to see something besides football.

Is there anything else to watch besides football?

Old episodes of CSI on DVD from Netflix.

Started watching "Blue Skies" tonight. Fred Astaire is good, Bing is on valium. Not a great one, despite a lot of Irving Berlin music. But I'm tired, so the rest will have to wait until tomorrow.

Good night, all.

The  storm they were threatening has a been a bit of a wet squib -  we got a sprinkling of show that  is only sticking on our wooden deck (just to be annoying ) and the lawn (which is pretty)
