Today will be a day of nothing for me to do.  I'm going to turn off my phone and sleep as long as I want...even my cat won't get me out of bed until I'm darned good and ready.  I might go see a movie later in the afternoon (or not) but I have no plans at all. :D

Saturday morning greetings!  My winter's nap wasn't as long as I'd have liked, but that's not unusual.  It's still snowing and I'm glad we don't have to go anywhere today.

Yes the snow has stopped here - but we got an additional 3 inches here and almost 6 more inches in parts of Indy.  I am scheduled to work today, but I do not drive in snow.....so I shall have to wait to hear from my sister what will be done.

No snow here though they say we are supposed to get some. I'll go to the store at some point today and get a few things now that we are back in the city and settled in.

I have to go back to work on Wednesday (as do many others, I assume).

I did many things that were fun this year, but I think my favorite was being part of Airport Appreciation Days....and taking part in an Old Time Radio show.

DRs Jrand62 and Ginny, on the radar last night it looked like y'all got a repeat of the previous storm that moved across the Midwest.  The ol' one-two.

And likewise, we're supposed to get it again.  The only good thing is that it's Saturday and no one has to come or go today so there's no great urgency in getting the driveway cleared...AND it's supposed to be "just snow", not a hideous wet mix that's hard to clear.

I RESOLVE, TOO, damn it to hell.  It's essential.  I have been shocked, shocked, at my eating behavior this month.  While it actually might not have been worse than usual for December, I didn't exactly begin the month from a lean and mean starting point, and I feel like a hippopotamus.

I usually like to think I have better control than most when it comes to compulsive eating.  But I really don't, and the Thanksgiving-to-New-Year's stretch is deadly.  You start, and you can't stop.

What I need to commit to is which kind of dieting I'm going to tackle this time.  I'm one who does fabulously on an Atkins low-carb diet, but what I really want to do this time is just cut down...on EVERYTHING.  Certainly carbs, which go right to the ol' waistline on the likes of me.  But...everything.  I overeat and I binge eat, and I always think "I'll start tomorrow".  Well, tomorrow is here, baby.

And of course one must exercise.  That needs to be kickstarted into high gear.

How well do they clear the roads where you are? I think this makes a big difference.

They are very good about clearing the roads here. And the day after a storm you almost wouldn't even know it from the roads. Although I am lucky. Downtown I"m sure the roads (especially residential) are probably terrible. People park on the streets overnight and it's a nightmare to clean.

Good morning, all.

I can add my voice to the extravagant eaters' chorus, and I'm afraid it will continue today, as friends and I are having dinner at one of my favorite places in Fredericksburg, the Nest. It's an old home that has been converted into an excellent restaurant with some particularly wonderful house-made ice creams for dessert. I'm not abstaining tonight, but I'll try not to overdo, either.

The publication of the book continues to be the highlight among highlights, with the trip to Italy and landing my new job also up there. Cancer surgery, I could have done without; but the positive results from that also make it a part of the list.
