Spent the day so far doing productive things like paying bills, banking, laundry and transferring items to my new wallet.  For fun, I took a pile of winning lottery tickets to the 7-11 and cashed them in.  I now have $24 burning a hole in my pocket!

I'm about to perform a solemn yearly ritual--going from room to room throughout the house and taking down the 2012 calendars.  But I'll wait until tomorrow to put up 2013.

The 2012 calendars were hastily purchased and were mostly an unispired lot.  They set the pace for the entire year.  This year I took my time to get an odd and eclectic assortment in the hopes that they will help bring about a more interesting year (and hopefully interesting in a good way...)

In the middle of preparing the New Years Eve meal.

prime rib, Yorkshire pudding, Mac and cheese cups, grilled asparagus, salad with nuts, pomegranate seeds, crasins and goat cheese with a lemon vinaigrette, and a banana toffee pie.

Picked up three packages, ate some tuna pasta salad but did not finish it yet and soon I'll get ready to be on my way to the El Portal.  Now, let's get the HELL off page three and ring out 2012 in style, not absentia.  We must have a lovelier than lovely partay tonight - I'll be back around six to begin the festivities.

Happy New Year's Eve!   I had a wonderful afternoon and got to meet 5 great kids that I helped come to the USA from Somalia via Kenya.   They gave me thank you cards and a beautiful shawl/scarf.  We all met at an ice cream shop and had a great time.  They are some of the nicest and most polite kids (4th grade-10th grade) that I've ever met.  It was a joy to spend time with them

I'm going to DR Matthew's.  But I'll stop at DR vixmom's for a snack on the way.

Oh wait.

Rib steaks?  Crab cakes?

I may have to fill my pockets with a bunch of those.

I need to go to the mailbox.  There should be a top in there for me I ordered.  I really need it to fit and look great as I am out of options for something to wear to my niece's wedding on the beach.

I've made in the last three hours a huge vat of chili. I do love my new stove! Sometime soon I've got to try out the oven.

I'll have some chili and cheddar cheese andcrackers for dinner, and when the pot is cool, I'll fill a lot of containers and freeze some of it.

New Cat sitter - victim of Ninja Boo just stopped by and dropped off the key and picked up her check.   Callie was not pleased to see her and really started hissing.    It's clear to me that Callie will need to be boarded in the future to get her meds when I'm gone.   Sharon said she'll be back some day, but in the mean time, that's the way it's going to have to be.

I'm glad you and Sharon had a nice visit. And I think Callie and Boo are simply being loyal to Sharon by hating all other cat sitters.

Time to figure out when the NYE party starts tonight and to wrap my white elephant.   I was going to do a really cool one, but decided to just wrap the Hostess Fruitcake I will never eat and do that instead.

LOL!   That's possible.   When she's up and around I'm hoping she can come over for a visit and see the cats.   She asked me to send her photos so I did.

Actually I was with her Saturday, not yesterday
