Good morning, all. And Happy New Year's Eve!

Feel better vibes for those needing them.

I didn't sleep well enough. The cedar pollen is heavy and it's raining outside, which seems initially just to wet it down rather than wash it away. Blech.

I'm sorry and surprised that bk didn't like "Young Adult". I thought it an exceptionally good film although I didn't consider it to be a comedy and I think it's a mistake to label it as such. I thought the script was excellent and Charlize Theron gave a perfect performance in a role which was novel and nuanced. I've watched it several since first seeing it a few weeks ago and each time I notice subtleties which were not obvious on a first viewing.

New Year's Eve morning greetings!  Richard and I have several errands to do, including going out for lunch.  We want to be home this evening to see the Broadway Live from Lincoln Center and to stay out of the snow that's predicted.

Last day of 2012....how can that be?

Very cold here with a bit more snow predicted to fall this afternoon.

I am going to spend my Gift Card from Meijer this morning.....if it is not too busy!  And do a bit of other shopping.  I don't have to do MAJOR shopping since I did that on Friday.

TOD:

I would like to make a resolution that we have TERM limits for all politicians.....if you can only have a couple of terms as Representative or Senator, then you can't become so powerful or be so influenced by special interests.

AND I would like to make a resolution that if you have been elected to office, you can't become a lobbyist afterwards.....

BUT I don't expect either of those things to happen.....ever.

Good morning, all! I wish every DR a fantastic 2013, filled with joy, health and prosperity!

I will shortly head down to Toyland for a couple of hours. On my way home, I will stop at the market. I plan to spend tomorrow accomplishing little and being lazy.

I liked Charlize Theron in the movie a lot, but I can't say that I cared for the script or thought much of the movie overall.

I liked YOUNG ADULT, but except for the score, I've always thought HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN was a total dud.

Sounds like I'd be bored with YOUNG ADULT.  One never knows, of course.  I do know I'm not rushing out to find it.  Hadn't even heard of it till reading the notes.

I also hadn't heard of the two films BK reported on yesterday, but both of those DID sound like they'd appeal to the likes of moi.  Now I have to go back to see what the hell they were!   :)

Re HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN...  Very sorry to hear it is so disappointing in general.

I'd really hoped (as I'll bet many are likewise hoping) that it would be one of those childhood gems that had somehow lain dormant all these years and now is a real find on Blu-ray.  Well, I shall watch it soon and appreciate all there is to be appreciated -- the music, at least, and Danny Kaye to the extent possible.  But what a shame to hear it's such a dud in so many other ways.
