My New Years dinner is cooking as we speak.  The same but different--pork and Sauerkraut but this year I'm trying it the way my niece Marie makes hers.  Mine was just Sauerkraut and pork with some brown sugar.  Marie said she does the same but adds beer, sliced apples and onions.  I'm giving it a try in my slow cooker.  I will let you know how it tastes later.

what cut of pork do you use?

:)  Did you get to watch the parade in person?

No, she and Richard's older brother weren't married until 1985 and I didn't really know her until then.  She was a student at Pasadena City College when she was in the parade.

Keith & I went with friends to a couple of the parades, camped out half the night first.  They were fun.  The second time we talked the very hesitant parent's of a friend into letting her go.  We promised it had been safe and that we would watch out for her & stay in a group.  We were all on the ground in sleeping bags when someone in the crowd tossed a firecracker.  Of all the people guess who it landed on.  You should have seen the scramble to get that off of her FAST.  All was fine and it was put out before any damage was done & while she was still napping. :)

My parents took me to the Rose Bowl 41 years ago to see Michigan lose to Stanford, but we didn't go to the parade.  We did go on Jan. 2 to a city park where the floats were parked and we could see them up close.

Back from a really fun partay.  I hung out mostly with Kay Cole and her ever-lovin' Michael Lamont, and director Joel Zwick - we really had fun yakking away.  Also saw dancing dildo Jeff Harlin, Sheldon Epps, Donald Petrie, and many, many others.  I'll now relax and see if I feel like finishing a motion picture.  I think I do feel like writing another couple of pages.

I'm not sure because they happened to have a pack that was cut up like stew meat.  In fact, it was labeled as "Pork stew meat".    I guess it was left over cuts of roasts put it worked fine as it was all boneless.

I always wanted to go on the 2nd to casually view the floats without freezing all night to do so.

Wrote another few pages - I've done twelve today and I think that's enough for one day, especially for a first day.

I was disappointed that what I watched today of the parade did not show anything about the making of the floats. They used to sometimes show the floats as they were being assembled. I love watching this!

I did see one couple get married this year on top of a float. But it was weird that their parents had to be at the bottom of the float and not even see the wedding. Who had this brilliant idea?

I keep thinking today is Sunday.  An email came in letting me know where our Wednesday hiking group is going tomorrow.  I can't believe for the 5th time in a row I'm going to miss the hike.

I did not make it to midnight last night. In fact, I was in bed by 8pm. I have had a bad cold the last two days, so going to bed early seemed like the healthy choice.

Of course,  I woke up at 4 am...so, got up and watched a movie I had DVR'ed called BLACK WIDOW starring Van Heflin, Gene Tierney, Ginger Rogers, and Peggy Ann Garner. Afterwards I went back to bed.

Today I will likely sit around and watch some old movies unless I start to feel better, in which case I will do some laundry and possibly a little bit of much needed house-cleaning.
Watched Black Widow on Sunday. Wasn't it fun?

It was. I am surprised I had never seen it before...love movies like that!

Back from a wonderful dinner at my sister's.  I'm stuffed and don't really want to think of more food.  But there was talk of spaghetti and Italian sausage which makes me think that might be an idea for an upcoming weekend meal.

Bruce I keep trying to remember how I made my mother's recipe for meatloaf.  I'm sure it had egg & onions in it, not sure about bread crumbs.  The ketchup went on the bread but it might have had tomato sauce in it.

Hamburgers were with egg & sometimes onions.

We have been watching lots of old movies.  Tonight we went to the Redbox and picked up a Blueray DVD of LOOPER.

I had better get the dinner dishes washed before the movie begins.

I think you can wait on Jack Reacher until it hits DVD. Some good performances, but Tom Cruise is so flat and the direction so inept that it seems to be fighting against itself for too much of the movie. Cruise had to emote once in the movie and you could hear titters in the audience.

BK, it is amazing that after all of these years, and in such a large city, you still can run into one of your Dancing Dildos at a party.

I felt much better after taking another nap this morning and so I ventured out to pick up a few groceries and to buy some new cold medications...when this cold hit I looked in my cupboard for Dayquill and Nighquill...both were quite expired.

Now I am doing laundry and did a little cleaning and organizing, picking up random DVDs that were scattered around and put them where they belonged.

Watching "The Sky's the Limit" with Fred Astaire and Joan Leslie. If made today, Astaire's character would be perceived to be a stalker. It's not very amusing, despite "My Shining Hour" and "One for My Baby" in the show.
