That bizarre version is a Powell & Pressburger film.  I have the Criterion DVD but haven't watched it.

I enjoyed the Met production from a couple of years back (it was on TV), but can't remember who did it.
Criterion has pulled that Hoffman movie from release. It's now selling at ridiculous prices, too.

Has anybody seen the BBC production of "Lost Empires" from years ago with Laurence Olivier and a very young Colin Firth? Costco has it for sale, but I don't know if it's any good. Not my favorite Priestley novel, but it was enjoyable, which is why I'm thinking of picking it up.

Yikes.  It sure is.  But I see Criterion issued the film only (no extras) in their "Essentials" series, and it's available on Amazon for $8.01:

We saw it a few years ago and really enjoyed it. Costco usually has good prices so I would pick it up for a viewing. Olivier plays a very creepy character.

Good morning, good day, how are you this beautiful day?  How appropriate - a Bock and Harnick reference.  I, on the other hand, am up.  It took me a long time to fall asleep last night, but I think I got eight or nine hours.

There was no outcome that I know of.  I'm sure the cops did nothing and I'm equally sure he's probably still working there.  Only cash, that's the outcome for Dino's.

I've finessed, and then written about five new pages.  That's it until I get home from the show - I'll probably write a few more then.

Oh I love that book - although the first story about the couple and the wife's visions is by far my favorite

It was a beautiful story.

I didn't read science fiction when I was young.  Unfortunately I saw the tv mini-series before I read the book and never felt the desire to read it.  Such a shame.  I have no idea how beautifully written the Martian Chronicles is.

Even without seeing a preview, I can guarantee that I will not see THE GREAT GATSBY.

Smart decision in my opinion.  This might be the only movie I didn't like Redford in.  I found it obvious he didn't find Mia appealing, plus I find the story a bore.

Have you read Stephanie Meyer'sThe Host?

Yes I have. I am excited for the movie. It's been a long time since I read the book though. I remember it was very long (like 600 pages). I remember the first 100 pages were very slow. But then the book was fantastic. Love it.

There are a few other book to movie releases coming up in the next year.

One is Beautiful Creatures. I still have to read that book (it comes out in Feb). I just reserved the book from the library.

Another is City of Bones. I think the movie is called Mortal Instruments. I have that book. It is supposed to be a great series. It's a series i've wanted to read for a long time.

Of course Catching Fire. Super excited about that.

And Divergent. I think this one might only be coming out in 2014. I would highly recommend the book to the Vixter if she hasn't read it yet. So far there are 2 books out (Insurgent is book 2). Book 3 comes out later this year. Veronica Roth is the author.

I look forward to reviews of the movies.

When I got to Toyland, the peculiar office across from ours, which has a lot of Mexican employees, had a large red and white sign, dated 01/03/2013, from the New York County sheriff's office forbidding anyone to enter. I cannot wait to learn from the super and doorman what happened. I've always thought the pffice was strange: I had long suspected them of stealing the rolls of paper towels from the men's room, and every morning one of the men was pouring buckets of water black from what I sus[ected was toner down one of the toilets. Most peculiar.

Curious indeed.

Last night we watched HOW THE WEST WAS WON in Cinerama.  Only we didn't watch it on a big theater screen, we watched it on our tv.  It really should have been reformatted for tv because it was difficult at times to see faces.

Ha ha! The last time I did was the song you arranged for my mother's 90th birthday. They have never asked me to again.

Speaking of Barbra--I went to see The Guilt Trip for the 4th time today.   I don't understand why it's not doing better at the box office.
