I love ketchup on my hamburgers. But I also make something that is called Big Mac sauce. You mix onions, relish, thousand island dressing, and a couple of other things. It is so good.

I was shocked when I saw that pic because raw hamburger meat is not the same as having a medium rare steak.

I blanked on three questions on the Jeopardy challenge last night, but otherwise think I did okay....but I do not think they are looking for people who do "okay."

The questions were difficult, some of them.....and of course I remember the answer a few questions later!

I don't know.  Maybe it's just me, but...

Did anybody else get the idea that BK didn't like HITCHCOCK?

If the ground beef is of good quality and you're at a decent jernt, it's very much like having a medium rare steak.  I don't like RAW meat, but I order burgers either medium-rare or medium, depending on the place and on what I know about how they interpret those requests.

The Hamburger Hamlet was the first place I knew where you could (and should) specifiy your preferred doneness of a burger, and it's probably where I first had one that was medium rare.  And I never looked back.  But the quality there was exceptional, and that is no exaggeration.

Oh!  Just remembered.  At the Smoke House I asked for my cheeseburger medium rare, and our lovely 50-year-veteran waitress went into quite the explanation about how I won't see the medium-rareness you'd normally find elsewhere, due to the blend of steak cuts used in the mixture.  That was fine, of course, and it was an exquisite cheeseburger.

I wonder if I will get any packages today.  It's been a lousy week for that, and there are several things I've been waiting on.  It's getting so the ones from the UK are more dependable in transit time than the domestic ones.

Along with my trip to LA in the spring, I may, if finances are good, take a trip to Utah and Wyoming...two places I have never been, and never really wanted to go...but my good buddy Mark wants me to come out there. We shall see.

And that reminds me!  Did I ever report on the reason for the long-delayed first shipment of SUNDAYS AND CYBELE from the UK?  The answer was right in front of me when I took that first package out of the mailbox, but I was so shocked at getting it that the evidence didn't even register, even while I was examining said evidence.

The shipping label had been put on at a 45-degree angle to the package, AND was actually wrapped around the edge, so that you had to flip the package back and forth to read everything on the label.  That obviously kept it from sailing through all the automated equipment, requiring manual intervention which simply took a while.  There was nothing mutilated or unreadable about it -- it was just put on wrong and the machines couldn't read all the markings.  I think it was several days later, after I'd thrown the thing away, that I suddenly flashed back to the memory of that label.

I do? Are you aware that I have moved twice since your last visit and that I still haven't sent you a change of address?

I no sooner posted that last, when the nice mail lady brought me a lovely package from Kritzerland!

So, one down.  But an important one, and now I got me some good reading to do.

I prefer a good hamburger medium rare, but if I'm not sure where the meat has been processed and ground, I don't order anything other than medium-well. Maybe this is why I'm preferring my own burgers lately. I know that the it's grass-fed beef and the processing plant was clean, so I can make my burgers the way I want them.

Made chorizo butter this morning to go with dinner tonight. I could have happily sat there, though, with a spoon and eaten the whole lot.

Got home yesterday evening after a stop at a gas station and a supermarket.  Baked a potato and grilled a steak.  Ate both.  Was all cleaned up and ready to settle in for the evening when a torpor overtook me.  I was in bed by 8:30 p.m.  And despite having the heat on, my mattress warmer on and a nice fleece blanket and quilt over me, I began shivering.

Sigh.

Two hours later, I woke up in a sweat.  Getting up, I was instantly chilled.  Used the hairdryer in my bathroom to tackle cold spots up and down my body.

Then went back to bed.   Apart from a repetitive and stupid dream cycle, I rested well.

Am at work.  That's all I can say about that.

She is indeed still around, DR Druxy. I interviewed her for FilmFax magazine around 2002 or so and we have stayed in touch ever since. She even attended BK's premiere of THE BRAIN with me. She's a sweetheart.

Diana's son Evan is a very talented film maker. I think he is living in England at the moment.

I will dig up a current photo of her so you can see how she looks now...and she still looks good!
