Last night's The Good Wife was so good. Still need to watch The Mentalist and Downton Abbey. I really want to watch Fashion Police. But right now I am reading. Did not get to read for 3 days.

Three days, must have been hard to go that long.

So, it looks as though we will record ROBERTA in Dublin in September. The Man From Philadelphia seems happy with the news. My FINIAN'S RAINBOW conductor Rob Berman will conduct.  I am happy to have him join the group. He's a great talent.
Great news. What's the schedule? When does "Dearest Enemy" get released? And when will "Roberta" sashay our way?

DEAREST ENEMY is still waiting its first edit. My three-time Grammy-winning producer is busy lady.

I'm promised an edit in March, and I suspect New World will aim for a Christmas release. We will record ROBERTA in September, mix everything, which I suspect will take a couple of months, depending on Judy's schedule; then in Manhattan we will overdub the seven Collegians, Billy, and dialogue for the bitchy finacee and her mother. I don't see that happening before Jan. 2014. My next project is to land the actors for the Bob Hope and Ray Middleton roles.

Enjoyed MBarnum's posters.  "Runaway Bus" looks like it might be fun--anything with Margaret Rutherford is bound to be!

These mini roses were a gift from a friend after we lost Sherlock.  They last just about long enough to take the photo-lol

And...we're in London!  Waiting in the pub that's on the ground floor of our hotel for our room to be ready.  We are a stone's throw from Westminster Abbey.

Well tempting as it may be, don't throw any stones at it -  we don't want you to end up in the Tower!!

Vixmom, here's a recipe that's relatively close to a solid Texas chili, though I would probably brown the meat in the bacon drippings before adding:

thank you John G!!  I will give that a try

What a day.  I did my finessing, futzing and fixing, which took a little longer than usual, decided to end the chapter I finished last night with the first two paragraphs of the new chapter.  Then I only got one new page done.  I found out the editing session got pushed till two, my seeing a friend got pushed till later in the week, so I went and had a cobb salad and a bagel, picked up a couple of packages and then went to the editing room.  The editor had prepared a couple of variations of the opening sequence and one edit in the first musical number that would have saved us ten seconds.  First we watched the opening as it was, then his new version, which played better for me.  I made one tiny lift at the end of the first person's audition and we ended up taking out one other audition, as it just wasn't funny enough.  It's now very tight.

Then we got to the musical numbers - we watched them as they were, and I have to say that even though the episode is running exactly eight minutes, they just felt right to me.  He showed me the lift in the first number (at the end, just getting to the final note early) but I just love the original ending so we left that.  Then we tried to make a lift in the second and third numbers, but each time it just didn't feel right.  The actual episode without the front and end titles really runs about 7:30, so I'm hoping that will work for people, because I'm just not going to cut it down further.  ALL the auditions will be on the Blu-ray as extras.

Then I came home and wrote three pages and I shall write another three or four right now, after which I'll take a break for a while, then probably write some more.

I was surprised to read in the notes this morning how little time some of the books have taken.  Of course I have nothing to compare any of that to, but they seem to have gotten done in an impressively short amount of time, especially when I consider how beautifully and easily they read, and how lacking they are in the typos department or any other annoying department!

TOD:

DR ZHIVAGO (Is this a British production?)

I've always thought of it as a British film Dan and the British Film Institute describe it as such although Wikipedia say it's an American film...but what do they know! By the way, it's DOCTOR ZHIVAGO not DR ZHIVAGO. M-G-M were very insistent about using that correct title!

Well, the doc and I go a long way back...

The Big Tease
Calendar Girls
A Fish Called Wanda
Four Weddings and A Funeral
The Full Monty
The Kings Speech
The Lion In Winter
Maurice
The Mouse That Roared
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
Notting Hill
Oliver!
A Room With a View
Saving Grace
Shakespeare In Love

And Vixmom really got this right: "All of the Wallace and Gromit movies/shorts." :D

Had a dusting of snow in London this morning. There could be more snow tonight.

It's been very lightly snowing today...and it's also very cold.
