Good morning, all! It's another chilly morning in Manhattan.

I will head down to Toyland this morning and work on a couple of ROBERTA numbers. I believe that Joshie has a question about harmonizing a section of a score that he's working on, so I'll help him with that. After that, I'll head home and see what fresh hell awaits me here.

Today I need to fill a gas can or two for the snow blower, as it appears we're getting some of that white stuff tonight, hopefully not too much.

Also could use some foodstuffs, so, no choice but to join the panic shoppers.

TOD:

Blu-ray: INDISCREET. One of those films which has a high nostagia element for me. The central London apartment where the film is set always reminded me of my aunt and uncle's London apartment where I often visited. My parents had a house in the tranquil London suburbs but my aunt and uncle, by contrast, led a more active, sophisticated, city life - which at the time I thought of as more exciting.

DVD: KONGA & YOUNGARY (MGM Midnite Movies). More nostalgia! As a teenager I loved these monster movies. I saw KONGA when it was first released, which contains one of the all-time greatest over-the-top performances by Michael Gough.

At last, the weather is promised to start getting warmer tomorrow - but not before another dollop of snow lands tonight!

I just had a lovely Facebook chat with conductor John Wilson. He was in Manhattan yesterday for Richard Rodney Bennett's funeral. I'll see him in March when he's back.

Today, I received a pckage from Amazon Italy which was mailed on December 2. So it took nearly two months to arrive. My all-time record in delays is a package posted from the U.S. which took three months to arrive.

I had already reported it's non-arrival in mid December and had received a replacement from Amazon Italy, which arrived only few days later. I thought this package was going to be the first ever item which I could say went missing in the mail - despite having received many hundreds (thousands?) of items over the years. It only confirms that, in my experience, everything arrives eventually!

DR DOUG R - I have never seen a Gough performance that wasn't over the top.....but certainly producer Herman Cohen hired him to do it that way......

Oh my GAWD.

BK has mentioned this a few times and it got me curious, so this morning I thought I'd pick a forum, search on the word "slipcovers", and sample a few threads.

I chose bluray.com, but I'm sure you can find this on AVS or any number of other huge forums.

Stunned.

An example of the "collecting" mentality at its worst?  I'm almost speechless.  Almost.

I don't think I've seen either one of those.  I'll keep my eye open for this one.

It's Friday, and I actually read Filichia without having to be reminded.

Failed the test, though.  At best, I knew about half a dozen of those.  I'm terribly with lyrics.  Absolutely terrible.

Slipcovers are just a marketing tool. I don't understand why people would want to collect them. I always throw mine away.

I could only ID 9 of the shows and I'd have to look up some of the song titles.

If my luck is good I may also have, via the DVR, the Mamie  Van Doren film GUNS, GIRLS, AND GANGSTERS to watch this weekend, but I am not remembering when it airs. I just remember that earlier this month I set the DVR to record it.

DR JRand, did you know that Mamie recently released a new album? It is available for download on Amazon.com. I think she even has a couple of music videos from it on Youtube.

Happy Friday, all and assorted sundried!

Mostly good night for sleep last night....two wakeups after some minor sweats...did not keep me up too long.

Still feeling weird.   I'm looking forward to the weekend!
