Are you taking your camera? Be on the lookout for neat birds!
We are taking a three-hour birding/dolphin watching boat trip while we're there. I've taken it before and while we say we want birds, we'll gladly settle for the dolphins frolicking about.

Not all people are so flexible. I heard that Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter went out with Scarlet, the woman who owns the boat. Jimmy apparently is a serious birder with a life list that he loves adding to. The birds were shy that day, but the dolphins weren't. Rosalyn enjoyed herself thoroughly, but Jimmy was sad he didn't see more birds.

Reading the mention of HOT IN CLEVELAND here I just checked to see how far behind we are. We just had ep 3-16. And I guess you guys are on season 4.
I'm watching season three on DVD. I got through episode 13, I think, and had to return it this morning. The last episode I saw was when Susan Lucci moved in with the girls. Great self-parody.

Susan Lucci is a good egg! I've worked with her on a couple of things, and I am very fond of her.

Maria Callas is singing French arias to me this morning; Callas á Paris is my favortie of her recordings. It's too bad she insisted she was a soprano; perhaps if she'd gone to mezzo leading roles like Carmen, Eboli and Dalila, she'd have had a longer singign career.

She looks pretty aged, that's for sure.

Still, I wonder how much of it is "makeup".

Of course, one can ask that about "this photo" (with Pauline Collins) from her 2013 film "Quartet" in which she looks ever so much better than she does in "Downton Abbey".

Yesterday, my father, Jack Shayne, was awarded the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contribution for starting The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. I am so proud of him.

What a terrific honour!

Wednesday morning greetings!  Yesterday really wiped me out, even with Richard doing all the driving.  We picked up my Mom for her doctor's appointment, from which we were sent directly to the orthopedist's office.  She was told there that the only solution to her hip and leg pain would be surgical, which we already knew.  We then made several stops to pick up things she'd run out of while I was away.  The longer the afternoon went on, the more painful my ear became.  I napped when we got home, prepared and ate dinner, and went to bed pretty early.

Vibes of strength and for recuperation.

Her appearance in "Downton" is likely nearer the true way she looks.   Given her hair style in "Quartet", there may be a lot of tape at play...!

So in the US Blu and Ray of Downton there are only eight episodes rather than the nine of the UK - I presume they did episodes one and two as their opener here in the US?

The opener here was two hours long.

Capital Playhouse's next show (opening January 31) is Next To Normal (the link is to a .pdf flyer).  I just received from Amazon the Korean cast recording! :D

I'll listen to it after a meeting that I have to go to in about five minutes.
