From DR Jennifer:
Quote
How long do you get the books for? Cause if you get them for three weeks and read a book every two days then you should not have to rush.

True, I should be able to read them all in the 3 weeks allotted.

Now you have me counting my books on Goodreads I noticed you have read more books than I have this year.  Since you reached your goal of 100 books last years why didn't you increase it this year?

Goodreads lets you adjust your goal. I was not sure what to set it at this year so I decided to put 100. But if I am still ahead I can change it later.  I just didn't want to feel pressured to have to read more than I wanted to. Remember I said that sometimes I don't read for days in between books.

Greetings, all, from South Padre Island. Trip down was nice, with a stop in the Mexican town of Progresso. Margaritas for lunch, a most civilized pastime. Beach weather is in the 60s and breezy.

You are reading more than I am.  Hmmm, reading a bit sounds like a good idea :)

Congrats on the review DR ELMORE!

I want my friends on HHW to be the first to know....I am in the $$$$$.  I just received the following message at my Yahoo email address:

An Iraqi made a fixed deposit of €24,500.000.00 in a bank  where I am a director.
He died with his entire family in the war leaving behind no next of kin.

If you choose to stand as my deceased client's next of kin, mail me at the address below:

Yours Truly,
Daniel Llopis.

In separate news....I can also get ready for Better Sex in Just 20 Days!

Wow double congratulations J RAND!! What a lucky, lucky day  for you!!

My ION tailgater just arrived, and it is most excellent......it would be perfect for teaching dance or Zumba....if I taught dance or Zumba.

I have no idea what this sentence means

After several weeks of bitterly cold weather it's turned mild at last. I suspect it won't last because February tends to be the coldest month.
Fortunately  it is also the shortest

You know, last night I was looking at what our GUESTS were looking at - you know, old threads.  On my 60th birthday day would you like to know how many pages of posts there were?  Would you?  Sixty-five.  Today, three.  So, are our glory days behind us or what?  And lest you think it's because we had so many posts from people no longer here, there weren't more than a total of twenty from those types.

well have another  landmark birthday already!!

I have just finished reading (about 10 minutes ago) Lady of Hay  by Barbara Erskine.  I wonder if  Jane, Ginny or Jennifer have ever read it.  I quite enjoyed it .

Of course, the answer is a simple one: Facebook.  Back in 2007 Facebook was not a big deal around these here parts.  Edisaurus posted here every day.  Now you can only see her posts on Facebook - seems a bit wacky to me, but apparently she thinks more people see her stuff there than here - I hate to tell her that because of the way Facebook works now, t'ain't so.  Same with Pogue, same with Jose, who just shows up now once or twice a year whenever he feels like it, and on and on.  Some here manage to do both without a problem.  But, you know, sixty-five pages vs. barely four.  It's not that we haven't had very busy days, because we have on several occasions just this month.  But one day it's twelve and the next we struggle to get off four.  I don't get it and frankly I don't want to get it.  It will turn around.  It always turns around.  Facebook will make one change too many and people will have had it.

TOD:

First computer - a Tandy 1500....with BIG 5 1/4 floppy discs and some nice programs....but NOT windows....got it in 1993 and used it for many years to write documents and print posters, etc....a nice dot matrix printer.

THEN....I got an IBM clone in the fall of 1998 so that I could get on the inner web.....and I used Freeweb which was a FREE ISP....dial up....

I used that computer for a few years....Windows 98......then I got a nice Dell computer with Windows XP.  THEN I got a computer whose brand I don't remember.....but it had a NASCAR theme....  Then I got a Sony all in one.....

Would that have been Sony & Cher?

The guy we've contracted to clear our driveway when it snows just stopped by to pre-treat it with salt.  Does he know something we don't?

Interesting.  I don't believe I have ever had that done.

Haven't tried it but I've thought about doing so.

Well, he knew what he was doing.  I left a little before 7 for movie night at Katie's, about 3 blocks away.  During the movie, it snowed about an inch and the streets were pretty slick, but our driveway was clear.  I am home safe & sound.
