DR Jane--to answer your question from yesterday:  I understand there are 51 people going to my nephew's wedding/cruise.

Nice!!!!!  It sounds like it will be loads of fun.

Wedding cruises seem to be the thing to do as I'm going on one in July!

We wouldn't be going on a wedding cruise but a cruise was also one of the options for the big trip. A 10-day Caribbean cruise in December around Christmas time.

DR Ben, as always it was delightful to hear your voice.
Just listened to Ben!  You sounded great.  I'm sure Beverley would love to see you again--maybe you and Anthony should go to the UK for your trip this year!

Oh, believe me, it's high on the list. I would be able to see Beverley in Wales again and my cousins in Sheffield and friends in London and Nottingham and Middlesbrough. I'm looking into flights now and also I'm looking into the train situation because we need to get to and from all these places. Our friend in Nottingham has a house and she said we could stay at her place and use it as a base and travel to our various destinations. It's going to take some research to figure it  all out.

Good luck!!!!

Our cruise to Tahiti & the Social Islands was incredibly beautiful.

A floating destination wedding.  I doubt I would complain.  That isn't really true, it would depend where we went.

Two nieces now have had weddings where everyone is at the same hotel/resort.  It makes for a very friendly atmosphere and more time spent with my family.

I think they are getting married in the morning and the ship leaves in the afternoon

The problem with weddings out of the country is you need to get married in the US first.  My niece was legally  married before they left.  My nephew did get an official licence to marry them.  It was free online.  Since they had the wedding in Mexico his official title is Padre.

Hmm...Oscar Producers Aim to Cut Out the Boring Parts.

We'll see.

;)

Wonder if they will cut out the lame jokes the presenters are forced to say.

One can only hope!

I wonder if the same thing is true for Canadians (that you have to get married in your own country first). My sister is going to a wedding  out of the country in four months.

If you have to get married in the US first then which date is your anniversary?

I expect it depends where you get married.  Mexico might be iffy.  I know it used to be.  I'm sure my niece will be celebrating the day in Cozumel as their anniversary.  Legally everything will have to say the official date.

My parent's eloped and had the same problem.  In fact after they eloped they were embarrassed to tell anyone and stuck with the wedding performed by the Rabbi for years.  Then they began celebrating both dates.  I'm very confused which was the official one.  I only remember it as July 3rd.

I think I'm going to need to purchase a book tonight from Barnes & Noble if I want something to become available through my library.  That's ok, I want to read ONE HUNDRED FLOWERS by Gail Tsukiyama.  Has anyone read it?

DR CILLA LIZ - I LOVE the Museum of the City of New York and 103rd & 5th.....it looks like they have an exhibition right now about the World's Fair of 1939......and they have lots of neat stuff to see.  Nice if you're not all about ART museums....

And since you're going up 5th Avenue anyway.....you might as well stop by the Guggenheim....which is MY favorite Art Museum in the city.

They have  Kandinsky and  Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian House exhibits open right now....and a Gutai exhibit opens on February 15 that sounds great....

And don't forget The Paley Center for Media (formerally the Museum of Television and Radio).

In accordance with HHW tradition:  I did 5 loads of laundry today!

I actually did three loads of laundry last night...my blankets and sheets and pillow cases.  I still have one more to do tonight.  I also had to sew up the edges of my two blankets, which took a while.  I bought a little battery-powered, hand-held sewing machine that actually worked fairly well.

My former supervisor said that he and his wife got married in Mexico...and as far as I know, they never got married in the states.  I wonder if they're legal!

I'll have to ask him tomorrow. ;)

Well, I need to leave work.  I want to go to Costco and return a couple of DVDs that I bought yesterday..."Being Human," seasons 3 and 4.  They were $19.95 each (which for the most part is a good price), but if I get them from Amazon.co.uk, I can save $10!  AND I have the UK releases of the first two seasons, so I think that they should all be the same region code. :)

Be back later.

Catching up on the latest Downton after two very strenuous classes in Viennese waltz and one in paso doble.

The dancing lessons on Downton look shamefully familiar.
