ONCE was the winner of the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.

Are you serious?  I thought the Grammy went to ONCE.
I think you're mistaken, TCB. It went to Once.

I must drive my car in,carefully, to the Hyundai shop this morning. When I was in Portland yesterday for my brother's party something happened to my seat belt, and now it will not work....I was just certain that because I was not seat belted in on my drive home that this trip would the the one in which I am in an accident and have a horrible, gory death! I was quite cautious. And I felt very naked not being buckled in.

Recollections of those horrid driver's ed videos like Signal 31, flashed through my head as I drove.

I am glad you arrived safely as I read through your post I kept hearing

"Blood on the Highway!"   in my head

Back from some chicken soup.  That made me feel a little better.  Also picked up some Afrin, which I just used, and something called Zicam, which I gather is like Coldeez but maybe better.  I think I'll know in the next few hours which way this is going to go.  Supposed to see Chess this evening, but I won't go if I'm not feeling up to it.

I must be tired.  I thought you wrote that you picked up an Afro, which you just used.

For your sake, I hope you aren't feeling up to seeing CHESS.

Because you need your rest, of course.

A well-written and non-snarky article about why

Smash

doesn't work for me and apparently others. I know Smash has fans (including some people on this board) but give me Slings and Arrows anytime.

I think Howard Sherman nails it.

Thanks, Ben. This comment said it all

“You live the reality, and what’s on screen isn’t that.”

Journalism shows, "Lou Grant" included, are so far from reality that they're all laughable on so many different levels. Yet, who would want to see someone sitting at a keyboard and writing for more than two seconds? It's visually boring.

Well of course all courtroom dramas are true to life, lol

I actually enjoy some of the courtroom drama and some of the police shows, even though I know they don't resemble real life in any way.  I want to like SMASH, it's just.... I don't know.. as I was watching last week when they said the problem with BOMBSHELL was the book. I was thinking, that's the problem with SMASH..

And we have our first blurb, from the wonderful writer Dick Lochte - I do love the regularity of having the same two people always blurb the Hofstetter books - there's a real sense of fun continuity:

"In Kimmel's newest Hollywood High whodunit, his irrepressible teen sleuth
Adriana Hofstetter delves into the disappearance of an Instagram-addicted
student actress scheduled to appear in the school's production of The Music
Man.  Once again, Adriana's  amateur investigation includes not only clues
and deductions but also bits of Hollywood city lore,  musical comedy
history, fine and not-so-fine dining in the city of angels, fashion tips
and  musings on book collecting, all burnished by the sheer exuberance of
youth. These tales of Hofstetter continue to be the literary equivalent of
comfort food, satisfying and good to the last bite."

Dick Lochte, author of the award winning mystery thriller Sleeping Dog

Great blurb!

Was just sent a review for the singer's show that we recently did here in LA.  Excellent review so riddled with silly mistakes that I'm not even linking to it.  I did send its author a correction that I asked her to insert into the review, because for no reason whatsoever the reviewer attributes a set of lyrics as original and written by the singer.  Well, no, since it's my song, When You're Waiting For Love, that she's referencing.  I set her straight about that, and the set her straight about the actual correct lyric that she's mangling in a quote.

Congrats on the review in general, but that sounds really weird...do some people just not pay attention? :-\

I have heard that one Broadway reviwer used to arrive drunk, sleep through the show and write a rave because he was on the take.  He's no longer alive.

I forgot that Clive Barnes was dead.

Cell phones have saved lives.  Without my cell phone to call Keith after my two falls & breaks, especially the shoulder one, I'm not sure how I would have gotten out of the hiking trails.

They were also very helpful when I had sick children & could be reached in my car, plus the times I made emergency calls to the vet while I was out.

Jane, I seriously doubt that I will single-handedly get all cell phones outlawed.  I just wish people wouldn't become addicted to their phones.

Well, the Coat is cast.  I think it's a good cast as we had a lot of talented 6th 7th and 8th graders audition.  I hope they are ready for some singin', because there is no where to hide in this show.  So that means I have cast(ed) 3 shows in 2 weeks.  That's a record.  And, I just finished a run and in a few weeks will start another run, my how "drowsy" I will become when that is over.  Hey, I need the $$, many trips planned this year.

I just returned home from dinner and a lovely evening with an old "flame" or whatever... I know we don't get too personal on this site, but I will tell you it was rather refreshing.
