Sunday afternoon greetings!  We are settled into our home away from home on the west side of Lima.  First order of business - a nap.

A nap is always good ;)

How long will you be staying in Lima?

Olga's funeral is at 11 tomorrow morning and there's a luncheon afterwards at her daughter's country club.  We'll be home before dark, I hope.

Home before dark vibes!!!

Chance of thunderstorms tomorrow....but that beats snow and ice.
It was in the 30s this morning when I left for church and the temp got up to 70 but there's a cold bite in the wind. In three days, it's supposed to be in the low 80s.

Wow!  Our temps are beginning to drop again but the sun is still shinning :)

We went for an early lunch in town today and then a casual walk around town.  It was nice.

I think TAR will be on time here. But wondering what time to program the Good Wife and the MEntalist. I need to record these on CBS because of Downton Abbey.

Local news pre-empted, but 60 Useless Minutes started just about on time.  There is hope for TAR yet.

It's been an afternoon of casting glitches. Damn.

Much as I like the Man from Philadelphia, having to run things past him can be a major pain in the derriere.

Michael Shayne, on the other hand, now lives on Facebook, posting every three minutes there.  Note to Michael Shayne: We're a lot more fun over here and there are certainly more people reading your posts here than there.

Alas, until this Facebook malarky grows old for him, he, like Pogue, will be in residence there.  Like Edisaurus, too.

Thank you.  I was pleased.  Of course the camera was far enough away to flatter me.

Now that I've finished season five of Mad Men, it's time to finish season three of Hot in Cleveland.

So, Friday night I saw a community theatre production of Promises Promises which was a treat in many ways.  The leads were really good and for the most part, the story was told very well.

However....

Why do people have this urge to stage/choreograph the Overture??  Evidently, that's what they did in the recent revival.  It was really dumb.  Made no sense whatsoever.  And the only other issue I had was that the "Vocal" part of the orchestration.... the called these 4 singers "The Greek Chorus" and they were staged every time they sang.  It was rather stupid and really detracted from the music.  To my knowledge, the purpose of the vocals in the orchestration is just that.  Part of the orchestration.  They should have been locked in a booth somewhere, not "part" of the staging.  Speaking of orchestration - the FULL orchestration (except harp) was used.  That in itself was pure joy.  All in all, it was nice to see the piece on stage, and it's still a fantastic piece of theatre.

Like COMPANY, the vocalists were in the pit with the band.
