We were watching IT'S A DOG'S LIFE last night, which we'd recorded off of TCM, and Chester did not take his eyes off the screen. He was fascinated by the canine star.

Thanks for the nice comments about my snow picture. It is beautiful and I'm glad we can stay in and admire the view. We won't be going anywhere until our snowplow guy comes to clear the driveway.

Regardless of where you live now - do you prefer a house with different levels or a one-story house?

Yes, beautiful snow picture, DR Ginny. The perfect winter idyll. But what I most appreciate about it is the flat earth!! The topography here accounts for half the nightmare, and I long for a nice four-seasons kind of place where it can snow without requiring a debilitating cleanup effort each time.

All my life I wanted to live in a multi-story home. I still think it would be nice, but now realize that as I get older that might not be such a fun idea.

Of course, now I live in a 7 story apartment building (where I live on the 4th floor)...but there is an elevator.

I feel the same now about my one-story home.

My mother has been fixated all her life on having a multi-story home, even in her 80s. She has one, but she doesn't count a basement. Still she thinks her 3,800-square-foot home is a bungalow, while my sister's 1,900-square-foot, two-story house is palatial.

I had a lovely visit from DR Ben, Anthony, and their nephew Joe, who proves that Ben's kindness, patience, and generosity of spirit must be genetic. I was happy to see them, meet Joew, and force them to listen to a bit of DEAREST ENEMY and have a nice chat.

He has a Hoffman look, but not in his acting at all - just facially.

Only one of my residences was two-stories and I didn't love it, frankly. I always heard noises and thought someone was down there rummaging around and would soon come up to do away with me. So, I think I'm a one-story kind of guy.

He was wonderful in ROUND MIDNIGHT, and I don't think I've seen him in anything else.

Haven't even seen that in years. Got it here, should watch it. I always remember, however, seeing it when released, in the very fine Edwards Cinema in Newport Beach. (I was staying with friends in that area in between apartments.)
